break in period for exhaust?

i had a rear exhaust section (b-pipe) made yesterday... when i picked it up, i couldn't hear the difference... but the more i drove yesterday, the louder the exhaust tone became. i'm not really sure why this would happen. the only thing i could figure was that the hotter it got... the louder it got. i know warm air flows better than cold air through exhaust... but is there anything to this?

i think you're right about the temperature. with my exhaust, it's pretty quiet when i drive it in the morning but as the day goes on and the engine is up to temp, it's a bit louder.

If you got just the b-pipe on the stock muffler or stock y it wont sound any diffrent.

But about the temp thing you are correct cause after a long trip my exhuast is loud as hell.

i like the way it sounds... my intake seems quieter now; not as dramatic as the ypipe made, but i can tell. at idle it kinda gurgles if you are outside the car... inside at idle you can't tell the difference. under load the exhaust just has a deeper tone... a bit louder... but is still quieter than the intake. the only time you can really hear it is when you are decelerating in gear.

maybe, but i don't think so.

What are you guys talking about? The exhaust is always louder on cold starts. Once the car warms up, the exhaust gets smoother, quieter, and less raspy.

mine is the opposite, it's quieter on cold starts and louder and deeper as the engine comes up to temp.
