Does our paint contain metal?

Is there any metal contained in our paint(cg2 pebble beige touch up paint)? I want to paint my xm antenna body color but it cannot contain any metal or it will hurt reception. thanks

Get a multimeter and stick both leads in the paint and check for resistance... also, might want to check it dry also, put down a dab, let dry, again check with a multimeter ... oh yea, set it to ohms ...

Do you need to know if it is ferrous or non-ferrous? I'm not sure what frequency the XM stations transmit on, but I would assume that it is fairly close to that of AM and FM which are not affected (much) by ferrous metal. I HIGHLY doubt that the paint would include any iron or ferrous alloys. This would lead to oxidation. Most touch-up paints contain small chips of the chroming material found on plastic, or some other sparkely non-metallic material. Although they are called "metallic", in my experience MOST do not have any metal in them. I don't think that the multi-meter test will work, as if there is metal in the paint, all of the chips will not be touching each other, and thus not create a complete circuit. I'd say pick up a used mast and test it.

Good luck!
