**5spd Remote Start Owners**

Hey all i've had my Viper 550 for 2 months now and i love it, Thanks Don (Pearl96Max) for the impeccable install at an extraordinary price!!!

So now for my remote start question, has anyone found a way of keeping the clutch pin "IN" so to speak so that my car will always start, i was using ductape at first but that just loosens up after time. Any helpful ideas? (yes i know remote start is dangerous on 5spd but then again i only leave my car in gear on hills)

Goto homedepot and get a "nutcap" that's the best way to describe it. That's what I used for mines

You have to push your clutch in to remote start it? Sort of defeats the purpose if you ask me. Most starter units have clutch bypass wires that get connected when it is installed. If you don't have one of those, you could just get the two wires that connect to the clutch pin and connect them, and just be careful that you never ever leave the car in gear.

When I installed my starter (5 speed) I added a radio shack "home security" magnet switch to the shifter. If the shifter is ~1cm away from neutral, the switch disconnects, which is hooked to a relay that triggers the hood pin when the car tries to start. The car won't start if the hood is open, with my unit. This has saved me a number of times from having my car drive away using the starter motor. You can use the brake wire for this too.

Hope this helps, good luck.

You don't need to push your clutch to remote start. ACtually if you put a cap over the clutch button then you don't even need to push you clutch in to start your car. Pretty convenient.

meccanobile did something like that too, i believe he used a piece of plastic and a screw to keep the clutch button pushed in at all times

Awesome, I have been trying to get help with making a "safer" remote start option for my 5speed. Not many people read the audio/alarm forum :<
I am glad we got a response here!
I will be installing and using a Matrix RS3 alarm. I need some exact help on how to hook up a saftey bypass. Any and all info appreciated!
How do I know if my alarm has the hood pin thing?

the magnetic circuit is one of the best ideas i've heard for 5spds...got pics? i've had mine for about 6months now and havent had a single issue with it....i use it maybe once a month, but it's mainly for the winter. I bypassed the clutch switch.

the screw/cap idea is prolly easier but you can disconnect the wire and ground it somewhere...this is more "permanent" i guess

If you want to be sure it never starts in gear, you can tap in to the Neutral Position Sensor. It is on the transmission and tells you car when to turn on the reverse lights, among other things. You can hook it up with a relay or whatever so it will not start when it's not in neutral.

Check out Just got an autostarter, which then refers to Neutral Position Switch

when cmac told me about his nutcap situation, he told me he bought like every size reasonable and possible and returned those that he didnt use. Not sure if u r too lazy to do that (i kind of am) but u can just do that if your real anxious to get it installed and when u do, please tell the rest of us the size to get, not sure if 4th gen size would be different from 5th gen
