Well I got hit.
Today while standing at a light I got hit in the back by a car which was hit by another car. Thank god that I put distance between me and the car ahead and was holding the brakes. I sometimes dont hold them because I am a stick. I have small bumber damage ang my right tail light is pushed in just a little. Also I think I might have damage to my rear brakes because the hit forced my car forward while the brakes were locked. Ill try to post pics later. F*ck this Sh*t.
dam when i read the title and the first part of your post "standing at a light" i thought you meant you got hit by a car.......good thing that's not the case. anyway....that is very sad. good thing is that you are ok.

Nope I was just standing. Good thing I didnt hit the car infront of me because I kept my distance. NYC Cops were real as*h*les and were saying that I had the damage before the accident. After a while they included it in the report. What a bunch of a$$ wipes. I know that my insurance not supposed to go up because I was not at fault. I still know that it will go up.

They wanted to arrest my brother because he came to the place of accident since its close to his house and they wanted to arrest him because he is telling them that its new damage and they were insisting that it was there.
Glad to hear the damage was relatively minor and that everyone's ok. As for the insurance don't be so sure. I've been hit by other people twice, both instances didn't cause my insurance rates to rise a dime. Insurance co is USAA.
Why did the cops try to claim it was pre-existing damage? Did the guy who was shoved into you claim he never touched you? I can see that, because depending on how fast the guy at the back was going it mayb be that the guy in the middle could be blamed for hitting you. He could try to claim he didn't to avoid the liability.
Was there matching damage/pain transfer between your car and the middle car? Why would the cops be so adamant that you were not involved yet still include you on the report.
Threatened him with arrest? I'd file a complaint. Unless he was getting up their faces or being a ****, then simply insisting that you are telling the truth is not an action that they can threaten arrest for - in fact threatening arrest for a legal act could be construed as a violation of your civil rights.
Get a copy of the police report and see if the officer has made any notes or comments int he report that would cause the insurance companies to question the validity of your claim. If he has, then file a complaint (you could even be denied full/any restitution by the offending insurance company if they choose to believe the officer that you weren't involved - you'd have to sue to get your money). If has hasn't made any comments or notes that would make the insurance company question the validity of your claim then just I'd just move on and put it down to that one officer having a bad day. Don't judge all cops by one bad experience.

thats sucks man, i know how it feels, i was rear ended b4 too
infact hte max has been in 4 hit and runs
in my case, the front end of her CADDY was busted up pretty bad and hte max had a miss-shaped bumper and lots of paint gone. i got it fixed w/o replacing the bumper(my body shop guy made hte bumper look like new again)
if u want an OEM bumper, get it from www.newnissanparts.com

I am not going for medical. Everything is alright with me. The cop knows that it was a chain reaction and I made it clear a few times that I was standing and the car was not moving on a red light.
now, correct me if i am wrong...If alex was hit by a car, who was hit by another car, shouldnt the car that hit the car that hit alex be at fault for BOTH cars? I mean, if the car that hit alex wasnt hit, then it would not have hit alex...Know what i mean
i have been rear ended when i had my eclipse and it pushed me into the car in front of me, minimal damage to my front and other cars back. the back of my car was crushed. neither i nor my insurance assumed any liability. the car that hit me, his insurance paid for all damage.
