I'm going to be replacing my clutch pretty soon, and was wondering if anyone has done this before. I have the clutch, AL flywheel and bearing, as well as the Nissan Service Manual and Chilton's. I'm getting my brother-in-law to help me (he's got a nice garage and air tools). He has done clutches before, but not on a fwd. Looking forward to getting it done since my clutch has been slipping for a while!

If your bro-in-law knows what to do in a rwd clutch change, then it's basicly the same for the fwd. The only real difference is you have to remove both cv joints(or just the driver's side if your really good, heh) Once the tranny is off, then it's all the same thing. Your very lucky becuase Nissan trannies are really easy to take off. Try the same in a 89 camry and you will understand!

Good luck. You will like the flywheel. But I hope you didn't buy the Key Value Nissan clutch kit. If you did, then don't even think about putting in that POS kit in. If your going w/ a stock clutch, order the pieces seperate and specify OEM Nissan only.

I dropped the transmission in my 90 Camry (automatic) in order to replace a broken flywheel (driveplate). It was a pain in my ***. It was my first time and took me about 4 days. But I got quite a bit of experience doing it. Are you saying a 97 Maxima stick would be alot easier to do? Cause when this stock clutch goes, I'm putting in the Quaife (should be avail by then) a lightned flywheel and a high performance clutch. By the time I'm done it should be $2000 or so... but hopefully worth it.
