I forgot who did it, but it is not an engine swap. You have to swap all the internals, intake manifold and all the other stuff and keep your block. I am not sure where you can get one, but if you can get one under 2000, it would be a great swap.

So, what CR are the pistons from the DE-T?

Anybody know what the difference is with the VQ30DD(240hp/227tq)?

DE-T = 9:1 CR Pistons

VQ30DD has Variable Intake

The second 'D' in VQ30DD stands for 'direct injection.' No VVL, or else it would have a 'NEO' designation, too.

The DEK's were the revised US models for the 5th gens with a plastic variable intake.

A skyline engine?!?!? Those cars got AWD and he's gonna be facing a lot of $$$$ to do a swap for his car. Unless the trannys are swapable. He could get a old RWD engine if that's what you mean. Not to mention the leangth of those things with there trannies, he's gonna have to make his car RWD or depending on what he has.

What kind of car does he have??

Direct injection huh...

That would require different heads to allow the injector into the chamber, right?

The ECU would flip out anyways.

How did your friend overcome the crossmember problem of swapping from the KA to the RB26 (there isn't a crossmember that will work)? And how did he adapt the tranny from the KA to the RB26. Even the output flanges from the RB25 rear diff wouldn't really be a direct swap (since the RB26 tranny is an AWD setup)...

I have some questions for your friend, if he'll contact me. I actually have an RB26DETT I can get my hands on, and if he did this very swap in the 240 and could contact me, I would start the swap this weekend...

Yeah, it requires different fuel, too. Fuel that we don't have in the US, which is why it isn't used here.
Somehow, BMW is going to sell a direct injection 7-series over here. I guess they got the fuel issues taken care of.
