Ignition Coil Question

I had my service engine soon light on for the past couple weeks, and when diagnosed it came up with P1320.. which is the ignition coils.. Are the three coils closest to the driver going to read a different ohm on the ohmmeter than the three near the front of the car? (a 99 max) I read the front three, and they were fine.. I read one on the back, and it was significantly different.. but I didnt check the other two in the back...

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Brian

should not matter which bank they are on, they should all test the same if they are good. i assume you are testing them correctly with + on 1 and - on terminal 2. it should measure infinite resistance. reverse the leads and continuity should be indicated but not zero ohms. pretty much straight out of the haynes manual. i would test the other two on the rear to see what they read. edit-the leads are left to right 3-2-1 on the coil.

Determining Right or Left Coil?!

I really need to know how to determine which is the right and which is the left coil.. Nissan near me is saying there is only front and back, but autozone is saying right or left.. The coil I need to replace is the one in the back.. would that be right or left?

Thanks a lot!

v-6 is mounted sideways so if it were facing frontwards, then i would say the right. im pretty sure most places determine right/left as if you were you were in the car. becareful about going with aftermarket coils as i have heard they have a tendency to be of lesser quality. most likely, its made by GP Sorensen. just make sure it has some kind of warranty and coat the inside of the boot with dielectric grease. you can probably get the coils from dave b for around the same price as aftermarket and then you would have nissan coils. his contact info is in the 5th gen faq. he will get what you need for a great price and quick shipping.

since it's FWD I believe you would have to stand on the passenger side to be in front of the motor. That's where the pullies are at. So standing there looking at the motor the front bank (near headlights) should be right and rear bank (near FIREWALL * is that what it's called, I've been in I.T. too long* ) should be left.

Either way take the bad coil and show it to them. If you have a 4th gen the rears look different. The Front has like a flat top. I think the Nissan maybe a few bucks more than aftermarket. I've burned about 6 thanks to Haltech.
