Thanks for all the feedback guys...it was definitely worth the time and effort. I work 40+ hours a week so it's not like I have THAT much time on my hands. I spent about 2 weeks of working at night and my entire weekends off doing these.
Cost of the project was about $100 for all the LEDs, $10 for plexi glass and maybe like $20 in other random little stuff. I also bought a used set of tails for $40 to help me mold the piece for the turn signals.
Like I said, I won't be producing these. There is a slight chance that I will do them, but I doubt any of you would be willing to pay what I would want to charge for my time.
Again, thanks!!!!

Tony, nice work!
I had actually entertained the thought of doing something similar (but with 3rd gen tails) a while back. Probably more than a year ago. I even talked at length with a guy here on the org-y that was supposedly working on some for his 5th gen. Unfortunately, I never COULD find a used set of tails for my 'experiment' cheap enuff to justify putting in the man-hours necessary for that. Heck, I probably still have a schematic around here somewhere if I look hard enuff.
But all in all, a really nice job! Makes me wanna get back on MY project now....

Well, I didn't really need the used set of tails I bought. I opened mine and used them to make the templtes and boards and stuff, I was just too lazy to take them off the car again and open them up to bend the turn signal pieces. Since I love wasting money, I just bought another set, lol.

Looks sweet. From a legality standpoint, it would have been better if you used amber LEDs for the turns though
You should post pics of it unlit in the daytime. I'd like to see how 'stock' it looks.

I must say, those look AMAZING. I always wanted to do this actually, but doing it myself would be a huge challenge! . . . But bro, hats off to you, it looks amaziing. I dont know if you you guys know , but the new M3's have tails just like that. This makes the car look so classy.

I was much more concerned with looks rather than legality. I know the white is illegal, but the amber just wasn't doing it for me. White looks about 3x better than the amber would so that was my decision. I actually bought a ton of amber LEDs prior to working on the turn signals, then changed my mind and bought all white.
During the day, you would never know I had these unless you looked real close at the tails and saw all the little dots of the LEDs
Besides all the LEDs, I still have regular looking red/clears (inner and outter done to match). Only thing is that now the clear parts look perfectly even because of the silver board that is now behind them
