I saw a brand new, dark green, Toyota Highlander today. The front end looks very nice. What do you think of it?

I think its designs are somewhat resembling Lexus RX300. But since its based on the Camry platform (from what I've heard), it would be more of a family vehicle than a bold SUV. Still, they got a powerful 220-hp V6.

Yeah the highlander is a nice SUV for people who don't go offroading. It's basically an RX300 without the fancy interior. But it's probably great in snow and gravel roads, which is all the traction that 99.9% of SUV owners need.

I saw one the other day too...a burgundy one. It looked very classy. Plus, it's Toyota, so it's bulletproof reliable.

An SUV based on a Camry?

Something sounds fundamentally wrong with that.

Well, actually it's not their first. Lexus RX300 is also based on the "modified" Camry chassis.

I am looking to buy an SUV and looked at this one, the new Sequoia, and the Land Cruiser. The Highlander looks cool but would be too small for me. Toyota makes great cars.. I agree with the other posts here, it's based on the Camry platform and its a less luxurious Rx300.

Toyota is lloking to make a killing in the SUV market. They now sell FIVE different models, the RAV4, the Highlander, the Sequoia, the 4Runner and the Land Cruiser. Then add in the RX 300 and the LX450 and we now have seven. I'll hate to see what happens when the SUV market crashes...

I didn't recognize the suv but it looked nice. In checking it out on the web, seems like quite a nice vehicle for 35 grand. It's unfortunate that with the economy the way it is they seem to be going for about list price. Over 300 torque, ULEV, Toyota's reputation, seems like a nice car. I drove the 2001 GMC and that was pretty shabby and costs more.

Hey, I've got a Toyota Highlander!!! Oops, I mean a Toyota 4Runner with the Highlander package. I think its a nice change with the hood scoop and fender flares. Wish I'd waited and got that Sequioa. Only a couple grand more and you've got a full size Toyota. That or the MDX, but oops I forgot that I HATE SUVs. My wife will not let go of this big, slow, I think I'm cooler than minivan owners, piece of crap.

I've got problems.
