I have a bud that runs the 3000GT UBB forums here in Houston.. It's located at http://www.thethirdcoast.net/ They have meets in Kemah and at the tracks all the time.

They race in Baytown every Friday... His car is the one on the front page... He has some video's of him spanking a WS6 pretty easily and him racing a 9 sec drag camaro. I will email him the link to the thread and maybe ya'll can hook up.. I would LOVE to come out and film it. It would be hard rooting for anyone though.. Since he is my bro and I am a Nissan fanatic... but it would be a tight race.

I wouldv'e had to run you w/ full slicks or drags cuz we don't hook up well at tracks w/o them at least when I went to Baytown I couldn't.

I can see a VR-4 to be good comp. or even get beat'n by one while I was spraying. I mean TT and and who knows what mods are added. But I just went to their Forum and SynN6 a GS-T
said he can't wait to do some kills. Maaan it's not even a
GSX. OK I'm sure there are fast GS-T's out there, before I get flamed. But I remember running all motor and beating GS-T with Huge intercoolers on there. I do rember some of the older w/ pop head lights being quicker and they could beat me. But that a changed when I started spraying. Man I'd eat those up. Ok, I know I shouldn't even be speaking untill I get my ride back up to Par. But if your in Houston alot of folks new my Max because there weren't to many spraying. Ok until I get it back I hope there is some one that will represent at this Baytown race. Freak'n A!!!
That's why I can't cruise don't down our strip on Sat. cuz I get sick when I can't represent. Soory had to vent.

stock motor, stock turbos, street tires, 5-speed. The original challenge issued was for "one of those fast Stealths" DONE. No flames here, just friendly racing I think the first gen DSM's are closer challengers to the Maxima's stock vs. stock. pretty impressive for a Max, as for me without N20 I am putting down 467.9HP at the wheels(don't know how much with N20 yet) So Don, just a few more weeks, and we will get together at HRP and you can see "one of those fast VR-4's" I look forward to it.

yeah if i'm sitting here at work and bored I would look for our cars in the archives. I saw some of the bs that some of you guys were putting on our board so I figured I would come over here and see what all the hoopla was about.

Well, you kinda have to remember, someone started it all by posting a VR4 roadkill, then Don threw down a challenge, so maybe that's why he is here.
Not saying he should or should not, but that's the reason and I personally think it does make sense. 90% of you will be allover the Neon board if they post Maxima roadkills then want to challenge us.

Ok, let's look at this objectively.

For the 1999 model year(only manual tranny numbers):
Base 3000GT - ~3,100lbs with a 3L 161hp 185ft-lb engine
SL 3000GT - ~3,300lbs with a 3L 218hp 205ft-lb engine
VR4 3000GT - ~3,800lbs with a 3L 320hp 315ft-lb engine

GXE Maxima - ~3000lbs with a 3L 190hp 205lb-ft engine
SE Maxima - ~3100lbs with a 3L 190hp 205lb-ft engine

So what do we have?

HP to weight:
Base 3000GT - 19.25lbs/hp
SL 3000GT - 15.13lbs/hp
VR4 30000GT - 11.88lbs/hp
GXE Maxima - 15.78lbs/hp
SE Maxima - 16.31lbs/hp



So what we have are very closely matched cars except the VR4. If a fairly stock maxima said they beat a VR4, yes it's bull **** or the VR4 driver can't drive for ****. If they said they beat other models, I would very well believe it. So in the end, the numbers tell the story. Of a modified maxima... supercharged maxima put about 250hp to the wheels for a well tuned one. Let's take a low drivetrain lose of 15%, that's approx 287hp at the crank. And let's just say this modified maxima weighs in at 3200lbs after all the stuff. That's approx 11.14lbs/hp. On paper it could run neck and neck with a VR4. Let's say the VR4 driver does not know how to launch a 4wd effectively... all of a sudden the scales tip to the max's favor....

Why don't you go back to the Stealth/VR4 board? I could strap a jet engine on my Max and beat your VR4, does that mean the Max is better? It could be driver flaws, bad traction or a million other excuses. There is no reason why a Geo Metro can't beat a top fuel dragster. It could blow up and slide down the track causing the Metro to go by at a mean 15 mph. Just get over it. One Maxima beat one VR4. No reason to cause a ****ing up roar on someone elses board.
