Clicking sound from rear of engine.

My car seems to be making a clicking sound from the rear of the engine. It does it when the car is on and off, but with the key in accessory position. Its like a click every second. I tried plugging and unplugging stuff to see if it woudl go away and its related to the gray plug near the throttle botty. From what I remember there are 4 plugs there, in various colors, i think purple, burgandy, something else, and this big gray one. If I unplug it, the clicking stops. What could it be?

that is your idle air control valve - IACV. it usually makes that clicking noise when you have the ECU diagnostic screw turned to "diagnostic mode". did you check your codes and forget to turn it back to the normal setting? when i forget to turn it back it makes that clicking noise at the IACV. other than that i am not sure of what causes the clicking. hope that helps.

Thanks Paul. I'm pretty sure I did turn it back. I took out the IACV and cleaned it out with throttle body cleaner. Seemed to stop clicking, but came back like an hour later. Maybe the screw is in the diagnostic position, but I doubt it. I'll check later tonight......
