Yes, that's right. I've been looking at Solaras. Specifically a SEV6 with a 5 speed. 200hp, 216ft-lbs of torque...but, it's TWO DOORS! My biggest gripe was that Nissan doesn't make a two door car anymore.

So, I'm really digging the TRD body-kitted Solara. I'm thinking i can throw my 18s on a white solara, get the TRD body kit, buy some springs...and i'd have a pretty nice Solara that isn't as fast as the maxima.

My biggest problem with the maxima is, i feel old in the dang thing. I feel like i should have a set of kids. Sometimes i wonder why i bought the thing... then, when someone tells me that i have a beautiful car, i start appreciating more, until it settles in again...i'm a 21 year old, with a family sedan...no kids no wife. eh...

Did you drive any? I tried a couple of 5 spd V6, both under 15kmi. The clutches felt weak, one was already slipping. The engine sounded nice, but it's no VQ. I like the shorter shifter compared to the Max/I30. A couple of gripes: the visibility wasn't great (thick rear pillars) and the suspension was mushy. My wife really liked the interior of the Solara. The dealer we went to also had a TRD Solara but it was an auto. I couldn't help notice that the bumpers seem to fade differently than the rest of the car, especially on white Solaras. Let us know how you like it.

I went out shopping for groceries on Saturday and parked on the street in front of the store. When I came back out a couple of kids (10-12yrs?) were eyeing my max and were arguing over whether it was a race car or not. The older said "no its not" while the younger said "yes it is!" LOL. It sure gave me a grin watching them at it. Old?? Nahh!! Isn't that what the mods are for??

I am looking at the exact same car. I want a black one with the TRD kit and TRD Supercharger. I was looking at the GS400 and decided that i dont want to spend that much money. The Solara is a GREAT car for the price and i am reallllyyy thinking about getting it.

If you like it, go for it!

As Toyota has the only other worthwhile 3.0L V6 from a Japanese automaker, I give 'em respect.

I think the front of the 5g Maxima is just killer. It's one of the most aggressive front ends on any sedan. But, the rear end is just weak. The 4g Max had such a nicer ***! On the Solara, the front is kinda intimidating, but the rear end is very nice! The lines follow close to the SC300/400 line of yesteryear. I haven't gotten to drive the 5spd yet, they only had automatics. The suspension did feel really soft...but, a set of struts and springs can fix that. I woulda bought a Solara if I knew that they had manuals, A YEAR AGO! One of the toyota salesman told me they don't make a manual...liar. .shaking fist in air.

There's a white trd solara, kit and everything running around my school. I'll tell ya, it's a beautiful car. If you can get it in 5 spd, I would go for it. That TRD supercharger is just too inviting and the body kit makes the car look like a monster.
'specially in white.

I don't know about weak clutches. My car and the solara are mechanically the same car except for a few small parts. I got 30,000 miles of very hard driving on my clutch and it works just fine. Although i do got an ACT in my garage waiting

The reason i didn't get a solara was price and weight. Its slightly heavier than my camry and is a lil more expensive. But how many two door v6 5 speeds are out there for under $26,000 or whatever the top of the line solara is going for and can perform as good as it can?

ALSO! Cattman is working on a y-pipe for it so parts are starting to be released to complement the blower if you go that route.
