Scale 1 - 10:

Installation: 10
Setup: 10
Equipment Choice: 7
Overall: 9

Comments: You should have used Diamond Audio M561's instead of Hex Series for your Front Stage.. the Mag Aluminum Cone gives a better front stage than the Diamond Hex Series the hex are better for Rear Fill. You should have choose a better Amp to power the Diamonds, the Zapco is a nice Amp but unfortunately tends to run out of juice at times.. i would have chosen a Kicker or a PPI with a non-regulated power supply to keep putting power to those diamonds and we all know the higher you turn up the Diamonds the better they sound.. Nice Subs... I would have went with the Diamond Audio MacDaddy 12s but the Infiniti Subs are adequate for a nice sound system... I like the MTX also..

Good Job

Another Note:

Even though Firing towards the back seat makes a very nice looking trunk install, you are also loosing 15 - 20 decibels with the subs firing into the back seat.. you can do this on an Accord, but the maxima back seat is very unforgiving and loves to absorb sound

my equipment choice is good IMHO but you have a different opinion than me? i think the install is 80% and the equipment is 20% of the install...but that is also my opinion..thanks

I meant no harm.. you can check with your diamond dealer or diamond HQ.. they will tell you that the Hex are not for front stage.. but *shrug* whats done is done.. the Hex are not as bright and don't bring out voice and higher tones as good as the M561.. check it out.. i tell you no BS.. also check on that Zapco.. they will tell you the same..

well. i havent heard the m651 but the hexes bring out the voice and midrange in a great manner so i cant complain. the tweeter is extremely smooth. i was gonna buy mb quart q's but dealer said go with the hexes...plus they werent any money on it anyhow cuz i bought the hexes for $275 (cost) if i had to buy another set of speakers it would be focal utopia hands down..either 165w 180w or even 165w3

MB Quartz.. ow my ears.. oww.. ear piercing tweeters .. yes you went good with Diamonds.... the Hex's are great don't get me wrong.. but they are better for rear fill, the M561's are excellent... good luck with your purchase

The front stage speakers need to be the best quality in the whole car, and the hex series are the best voice speakers diamond makes. The Hex have a kevlar cone compared the aluminum cone of the motorsports, and the hex have a far better crossover then the motorsports. The cone is the main difference between them which gives them the superior sound difference. So then how could they be better for rear fill??
I had Jim, the head engineer of Diamond Audio help design my stereo and if the Motorsports were better I think he would have suggested it. Not trying to flame you or **** you off, but I have researched my stereo equipment for a while and spare no expense on the best quality. After investing 7 grand on my stereo so far i would like to think it is one of the best out there in a maxima. check back on my webpage in a month and you will see my new stereo pics and info, what is on there now is my old one.

Sorry to disapoint you greg but, the Motosports are better for voice than the Hex.. the problem is the Hex tend to be a bit muddy like MB Quartz at times.. but the Motosports keep the constant quality.. great voice.. great front stage.. i am sorry if everyone told you what they told you to try to make you spend more money..

I sat for 30 mins listening to Opera CD's, Rap CD's and Techno CD's switching back and forth between them and i will tell you that the Motorsports shot the Hex out the of the water.. no questions asked.. funny thing is i have both in my car... and i know personally which ones sound better

You mean you know personally which ones YOU THINK sound better. "Sounds better" is totally subjective. You cannot say that one set sounds better than another flat out. The only thing that matters is the listener.

Well it is apparent that you do not have a good ear that can tell the difference between a top of the line speaker and a mid line series. I got the hex series for the same price i could have gotten the motorsports for, so price had nothing to do with it. I have 6 years experience working in a recording studio as a mixer and i know a good tone. I am sorry that your opinion is different, I have spoken to lots of people about diamonds and everyone agrees including me, hex's are the best. I have two sets of M561's here at my house I can't even give away. Everyone wants the hex's and I wonder why. Maybe you just have a bad set of hex's in your car, better get them checked out.
