noises when taking off...5spd
My max has been making noises when taking off from a stop. It sounds like a creek type noise coming from the front of the car. It happens when im releasing the clutch but goes away after it is released and I do not hear it again unless im taking off from a start again. It doesnt happen all the time. The car has 80k miles and im not sure if the clutch was ever replaces, probably not. I did the 5th clutch at 40mph test and it seem good, no slipping. Im thinking its possible that the brakes are sticking. Anyone have any ideas?

Does the creak occur when you have the car off? My 96's clutch got a little creaky a few months ago. I attributed the sound to the poorly lubed pivot point on the clutch fork. I yanked the clutch fork dust cover (top of the tranny) and used a long screw driver to spread some grease on the pivot point. I don't recommend doing this work unless you are familiar with what I'm talking about.
You sound could also be a worn throw out bearing. My throw out bearing is fairly noisy when cold, but it's been this way for a few years now. 103K miles on the stock clutch and still going.

Thanks for the reply. That is not the creak I am talking about but I also have the squeaky pedal you are talking about, Ill take car of that soon. The creak sounds more deep then the squeaky pedal and I do not hear it when the car is off, it only happens when im taking off.
