I'll be installing my hella horns either tonight or tomorrow... it is STRONGLY recommended to use a relay, but I am a total newbie when it comes to relays. . . can someone give me some info on installing this with a relay???

BTW: I have some air horns in there right now and didn't use a relay for that install, i just used a bigger fuse. . . would it work if I did the same here??? Or is it critical to use a relay. . .

I wired up mine without the relays and everything sounds perfect.

 

that's what i was thinking because my airhorns work without a relay. . . the fuse would burn out if i held it long enough, but i put in a bigger one and it's been fine for the past 6 months. . .

 

i didnt use the supplied relay either. i just used the existing wiring and then ran a ground wire for each horn. i have held the horn down for 20 secs and its fine so far. i think i am going to try to use the relay though just to see if it makes it any louder.

 

I helped install a pair of Hellas on Sat and we used the relay provided with the horns. I guess you should use it to be safe.
