Maxima 99 Hi Flow CAT Catalytic Converter

I have a 1999 GLE. I bought a Hi flow CAT Catalytic Converter If I remove the stock catalitic and replace it with the new one which I got recently, will it kill my car or will I get CHECK EIGINE light. What are you suggestions?

The one from EBAY? That costs like $50 or so? It's not even a cat, at least mine wasn't. It's just a metal pipe that takes some power away from your car. I had 3 or 4 different kinds of CATS and they all suck compared to the stock one.

replacing stock cat will not give you any HP. in addition you are polluting the environment. put back your stock cat...

You Cant get a CEL from changing the Cat out due to the fact that their are no sensors post-cat. you could leave everything past the y pipe off completely and your car wouldnt know the difference. Now Your ears definitely would and Im sure the birds and trees would frown on it.

Actually there is a post-cat O2 sensor. In the '95-'96 it is in the car, and in the '97-'99 it is after the cat. A word to the wise: Most aftermarket cats and test pipes that are marketed for '95-'99 are really for '97-'99 since they do have have an O2 sensor input, and you must have this welded in. And driving with the O2 sensors not plugged in may set of a CEL after a few drives.

But either way you will see MINIMAL performance increases (most likely nothing on the butt-dyno) and it is very bad for the environment to get a test pipe. If you want a high flow cat just to www.WarpSpeedPerformance.com or www.Cattman.com and stick with one of those - they are environmentally safe but very costly and again provide little to no horsepower/torque gains.

Your friend is either drunk or on crack 24/7. A high flow CAT will reduce your low RPM power like MOST of exhaust mods do. I have a y-pipe and a cat-back and the car is WEAKER of the line than when it was stock.

I just changed my hi-flow cat to a regular one. My low-end improved, but I lost a decent amount of high end. I guess it all depends on what type of power you want to make whether you consider this mod 'useless' or not.
