The install looks very easy but am I suppose to tighten that allen bolt? Heres a pic of what im talking about.

The bolts on my 98 were not 14mm or 19mm but 22mm (dome on top, not open). All the guides I have read said its 14mm for 4th gens and 19mm for 99 and up. I picked up a 22mm socket but its dark and too cold out to do anything

Yes, you need to tighten it. If you don't have an allen wrench which is the correct size, you can always just hold it with vice grips or some other adjustable wrench while yo turn the nut on the other side. You really don't even need to hold it too hard -- just enough to keep the bolt from spinning while you tighten the nut.

Thanks for the replies. I got mine from SWA GD for $40. I wasnt sure if I need to keep them loose to allow the bar to move during hard turns. I have an allen wrench that fits so I wont have a problem tightening that.

I put it in and it feels like it stiffened up a little or it might just be in my head Is it better to put it on when the car is raised...off the suspension? After it was in, it seems like its a little to close to the engine, anyone have any pics of their Otto bar installed?

Hmm... you probably should have read up on this before installing it.

Do it on level ground with all 4 of the car's wheels on the ground. Adjust the length OUTWARDS so that it takes up all the slack and you can't move the bar between the towers (or can barely move it).

I did read a few guides, I installed it with all 4 wheels on the ground and made sure the bar was pushing the struts apart. I just remember reading in a post a while ago that is better for the car to be lifted, off the suspenstion...maybe that was for the RSB?

Oh, good. I vaguely remember a debate about that where one guy claimed it was better to lift the car, but several other people (including myself IIRC) disagreed. I'm not sure it would matter for a RSB, but I think ramps might be better for that one because the suspension isn't pinched inwards...(?)

i don't think it would make a difference because if my struts move the metal they are secured into i'v got a serious problem. i just installed my otto FSB. other then the clearence issue being that is touches in 2 places(fuel rail and the TPS/egr i think) its great i plan on putting 2 small peices of rubber to let it rub....oh and it looks Hella hot!

if you lift the car and unbolt those 3 bolts your struts might fall out. I wouldn't know since I'm not dumb enough to try

I used a vice grip to tighten mine (didnt feel like looking for the allen wrenches). The difference is night and day. Not as noticeable as the RSB, but my front end was much much more responsive with quick jerks of the wheel and hard cornering.

I think its more noticeable with aftermarket struts/springs.
