Quickie: Can you do an oil change w/o a lift(or jack) on a 4th gen?

Yes you can do it without a jack. Just turn the wheels all the way to the right and get in the right front wheel well. Remove the splashguard and you'll see the drain plug and the filter. I usually let mine drain for about 10 minutes.
Of course, I cant do it without a jack. But that's just with my car lowered.

I do it all the time...
It's a piece of cake. Especially since the filter is right there behind the splashguard.
I let mine drain for about 10minutes, then pour about 1/2-1 quart of new oil through to try to displace any extra crap that was below the drain plug, let it drain out, then replace the plug and fill 'er up. About a 15-20 minute process.

is there a covering in the wheel well? if so? how do i take it off. any advice would be helpful, i want to change my oil myself, and you guys make it sound easy. plus if you change the oil yourself, does it void the extended warranty? or do u have to go to the dealer.

You don't have to jack up the car to change the oil...but as Daniel Martin says, changing the oil is a good time to inspect the rubber boots for any holes and replace them which can save you from a more costly repair in the future. If you jack up the car this allows you to inspect them by turning the tire back and forth and checking for holes.
The splash guard can either be removed, it's held on by approx. 3 screws located inside the passenger side wheel well, or you can just bend it out of the way to access the oil filter.
It's also a good idea to drain the oil when it's hot. It will drain faster and more completely. Don't forget to apply oil to the oil filter gaskett and only tighten it hand tight.

Easy as eatin pie. I put a Nissan cap on rally style, lay on a piece of carpet, take out the drain plug for a while, then remove the filter. It's one of the easiest car's to change the oil on I've ever owned. I just push the plastic guard out of the way a little, don't even remove it.
What I've noticed will take even more oil out is if you just put your garage jack on the drivers front side and lift the car up a little - it allows more oil to come out!
I'm crazy, sometimes I leave it draining in my garage overnite. No harm done.
Good luck! Oh & try synthetic once.
