Well, my odometer went out on my 96 GXE 5-speed. So, I am going to go ahead and replace my guages. Where can I get some replacement guages? Can I get the ones that are for the SE (white faces)? Will they just fit right in the place that the other ones came from?

I know this may cause problems for resale, but I don't really have a choice... at least I don't think I do.

Here is the problem:
My odometer(and trip odometer) are not working most of the time. They might work for 5 miles out of 200 or something like that... it just started, I know that for sure. Is there a cable or something that might cuase this? BTW, the speedometer and cruise control are working perfectly fine.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Well, I know that on my old explorer the same thing happened. The odometer stopped working although the speedo and cruise still worked fine. What I had to do was actually replace the whole cluster. Easy job (actually it was alot harder to do on the explorer then it is on the max). I just recently installed white face gauge overlays on my gauges so I can tell you the cluster just pops right out with 3 plugs behind it, no big deal. I would look at a junk yard for an SE cluster. Try to get them to match the mileage, or, and i would never recommend doing this , if you're a bastard you can get one with lower mileage heh.

There are a couple Nissan only junk yards that you can get them from.

Acounding to them the Gauges for the GXE and the SE are different. If you can find a GOOD mechanic they can fix the new opmeter to match the actual mileage. Similar thing happened to me and I had to get mine replaced. YOu can get just the Speedo from Nissan for about $150 and the factory sets your mileage for you. if your only problem is the odometer, get the new guage from Nissan,. It will be cheaper in the end, and you have no worries about the mechanic breaking something trying to set the odometer. Once you recive it, you can change it out yourself in about 20 min.

I just replaced my speedo...

thru Courtesy and it cost me 187 plus tax. (Ouch) I have to replace my fuel guage too. This was all the side effects of a batched white-face overlay job. I tried to pull the speedo needle off gently, and boom no more speedo! I checked salvage yards and carparts.com and had no luck. Better luck for you! Buenas suerte

Re: Try this site...

Those are just guage face overlays... they aren't actually the guages.

Thanks anyhow!
