Help! (Hard-wiring a radar detector)

Hey guys, I know this should prolly go into the tech section but I'm looking for a quicker response.

Anyways I am try to hard wire a radar detector onto my car, and I'm stumped!

I've tried all kinds of fuses with no avail.

Can anyone give me some points on whereto install the leads?

Is that the writeup you saw? Its basically the same set-up. You should be able to do it with that.

I tried to tap into the white/blue striped wire like in the write up said close to the fuse box but it was very tight and I couldn't get to it easily b/c of it being wrapped. I followed the wiring around to the other side of the steering wheel where it was much easier to get to.Try that and see how it does.

Bro - It's really easy. I'm in the same boat as you. Here's what I'm going to do with my 8500 this week.

Materials. A male/female R-11 phone cord (15 feet, 25 feet?)
A cig. lighter splitter.

Steps:
1. Run telephone wire around top of windshield, inside pillar, and underdash.
2. cut off male end of splitter
3. open up center console where dash is, , and wire into cig lighter. Soldering would be good. (Not sure on the polarity yet) but will be able to figure it out when stuff is opened up.
4. I'm going to drill a hole in the back of the little open air cubby on the right side of it so I can see it at an angle when driving but the passenger/date won't really see it. Still clean.
5. Mount it there.
6. Plug everything together.
7. Done

Giving a shout out to ManualMaxima for the idea of the cig. lighter splitter for the two 15" Neons I bought. He rocks and I need to get my Cardomain site up.
