Scary roadkill on Saturday morning
#1
I wanted to post this up earlier, but have just been so busy trying to get my indiglos to work right.
Anyway... Saturday I had a wedding to go to at noon. And I brother wanted to go buy a present Saturday morning. So, all the way to the store and all the way back, I was rushing.
On the way back from the store, I was pushing about 80-85, when I see some birds flying across the road. Now, usually, they're smart and fly above the cars. Usually.
I see a small sparrow flying pretty low. And I'm going 85, and I'm on the outside lane, so I can't really swerve. The bird hits my car, in my windshield, at my head, eye level.
My instinct was to duck and close my eyes, which I did, for about a second or two. I heard a thud and a crunch and then opened my eyes. There was some white streaks across my windshield that I couldn't get off with window washer fluid or my wipers.
My brother looked back real quick, but couldn't see where the bird went.
When I got home, I scrubbed my windshield down like crazy.
Stupid bird.

Couple of my buddies were going back on one sat night to Texas A&M, back to college, and they saw some animal crossing the road, so they swerved, lost conrol of their lifted Tahoe, flipped and one of the 2 guys who slept in the back, drunk, ended up all over the road, w/ his guts outside of his body. The driver was in shock in the hospital for a while. Now he's ok but he killed his good friend. F*** up huh

Please remember guys, it's always safer just to run the animal over than to swerve and try to avoid it (unless of course it's a moose or cow). A lot of accidents are caused by people trying to avoid critters. Police always say just run them over, don't try to brake or swerve. Sounds cruel, but better an animal than a human being.

Yes, it's better to run them over. I ran over a dog last year on a 4-lane road here in Chicago. It was rainy, and the dog ran across the street--I braked, but the car skid, and that was it for the dog. Felt like a bump in the road....
