It's all over..

Well, I had contemplated not even posting about it, but now that luke made the video of my car I guess I can somewhat give everyone the scoop.

My car was broken into and vandalized 2 weeks ago while in daytona for tuner bash car show. Over saturday night, after the show, while my car was parked in the hotel garage my car was dismantled. I am not going to post any pictures because I couldn't bare to take any myself and the ones my roomate took went to the insurance company and I told him I don't even want them on my computer.

The passenger rear window was busted out, and from their "they" went to town on the car. First cutting the power wire to the battery behind the rear seat, then tearing the entire center part of the dash apart; leaving only a busted up tv unit with no faceplate and no remote. They broke the top vents, ripped out the hazard/defrost switches (broke them and cut the wires so i have no blinkers), yanked the digital ac controls to pieces, cutting some of the wires, pulling my s-afc2 and blitz TT out of the dash and completely destroying the custom dash piece that held them in place. The dash itself has a bunch of rips in it, but most importantly the center framing is bent to hell and where it's plastic is busted completely. From there they ripped out the tweeters and 6.5's from the doors and ruined the door panels. They took the brain from under the front seat and yanked all the wires clear out of place. The headrest's and 6.5" tv's where taken off the front and from there they decided to slash the front seats on the bottom, just for good measure I guess. They busted up my PS2 bracket and took the PS2 out of it.

If this wasn't enough they went to the back of the car and drove a screwdriver into my brand new carbon fiber trunk lid repeatadly, mostly in places that don't involve opening the trunk lid. They jammed a screw driver in between my bumper and trunk lid a few times and finally got the trunk lid open, cracking the frame of it and busting a bolt out of the trunk arm in the meantime. They pried both amps from my fiberglass amp rack, and one subwoofer from it's pod. However they couldn't get it out with the 19" wheel in the way, so they broke the mount for it in half, while scratching the wheel like crazy and ruining fiberglass and hours of fabrication. They luckily didn't damage the sub pods, but they did mess up the amp rack and wheel nicely.

Just to rub the salt in my wounds, they keyed the entire back half of the car as well as scratching the roof a couple times (all down to the metal). I guess one good thing from all this, was that they dropped the safc-2 outside my car and forgot it; without this I would have had a hell of a time driving the car, if at all.

So needless to say, I have not had a very fun couple of weeks and whether the insurance company totals the car or not I am done with it. What is left of the car is either going to be cleaned up and fixed and I will sell the car, or I will be stripping the car down and parting it out. The damages totaled out at $26,530.00. I have absolutely no interest in fixing this car up again (I already put a down payment on a g35 coupe and ordered some 20" 3pc wheels for it), so I guess I will be taking offers on the car, whenever I hear from insurance on what they are going to do.

Oh, and my insurance company has been pretty crappy through the whole deal, so a word to the wise: If you modify your car, get it in writing from your insurance company that they will replace things. Even with receipts for everything they don't want to cover stuff.

Good day to you all, and I guess watch for for sale posts in the 4th gen forums as well as something in the maxima's for sale if it comes to that.

If this happened at a hotel garage how is the hotel not paying for any of this? If it was in a parking lot I could understand that, but inside a garage? Come on.

Jason,

I have loved all the work you've done to that car and I'm truly sorry that this is the way in which in had to end. But be rest assured that what goes around comes around and the ***** will pay eventually for what they've done. So much hate...for NOTHING!...

best of luck to you and the g35

I stayed at the Adam's Mark Hotel, and as I watched the valet guy pull an escalade on 26's into the garage and run up on the curb, I quickly decided there was not a chance in hell they would drive my car in there. So because I didn't let them drive my car in, they said that it wasn't covered under insurance. I cared more about the guy not messing up my car at the time than worrying about vandalism.

I even asked the guy who runs parking and he said security and police monitored the garage all night, but apparently not. And no cameras where anywhere in the garage.

I had USAA insurance, who said the car was always covered as is. Apparently they were just jerking me around the whole time. From now on I will always pay a premium (pay towards the stated value of the car) for insurance and not what they think its worth. So I can constantly up the value of the car and make sure things are covered.

Thanks for all the kind words, and this did happen 3 weeks ago hence why in the video luke posted my car looks fine.

There was blood everywhere inside the car, I guess my car tried to fight back during the whole saga. But the cop said he wasn't going to take a DNA sample or dust for prints (you could see prints all over the car because it was dusty and sandy). Beats me on why not, he said because it wasn't a serious case..

Thanks again for all the kind words, I was really angry and really upset at first but it is only a car and you can always move on to something else.

That's BS man. I bet you that even if they did drive it into the garage they'd deny to pay for it. They just don't expect you to get a lawyer to get your money. Does it say anywhere in their policy that a car that is parked on their property isn't insured unless one of their inbred ****s drives it into the garage?

Wow! This is very upsetting! Any chance this could have been an inside job? You know, those working at the hotel? Well, when you get the g35 post up some pics! Good luck man!

Really sorry to hear about this Jason...

You have probably already gotten over it, but I would have pushed to get the DNA or fingerprints done. Then I could have & the a$$holes!

Good luck with the G!

Geez, another Max getting vandalized. I'm very sorry about your loss, it's really difficult I'm sure but that's what insurance is for. However, I tend to speak ill will about the insurance company espeically a lot of hassle with the "value" market of the car.

ouch dude, I'm so sorry. I don't know how I would deal with it if I put in as much work as you!

Be zen about it and put it all out of your mind. Your life with the G is just beginning and it will give you pleasure just as your max did!

take care,

USSA really suck. A yr ago someone stole my 12sec 98 gsx, took the rims and rear euro tails, and lit my car on fire. Nothing was touched in the engine bay (18g turbo, bov,FMIC, and 2day old intake manifold all went to hell) The insurance company did not cover ****. I built the car for my wife, and she loved it, now she is totally turned off with the import scene and lost the passion she once had for cars. Jason I feel your pain, and im sorry
