Racing Seat ?s
I was looking into getting a pair of racing seats for the maxima sometime soon and was wondering what yall did about the seatbelt and all of that? did you just re-use the factory base/rails/seatpan? thanks

I had to fabricate my own brackets using the universal sliders they sent me and parts from the stock sliders. It was a lot more work than I'd hoped for but it wasn't too difficult to do. I'd recommend getting maxima specific sliders to make the swap easier. Don't know where to get those though.
I bought 4 point harness's to replace the seatbelts.

the corbeau brackets are a direct replacement, thats why i went corbeau. might be a good option. i got the clubmans and while they are great for a big person like me 6'4" 215 lbs. and are lightweight (25 lbs per chair including brackets) there are a few down sides. you cant adjust the back because its a bucket, and if you are smaller you might not can reach the the pedals because the seat will only slide forward so far.
it was my first experience with aftermarket seats and i got the weight reduction i was looking for but i wouldnt do a bucket again.
i think the best thing to do is make sure its the right size seat for your size, and get the adjustable thing/recline.
if your not into weight reduction, i saw where some guy put 350z seats in his max and they looked very good , much better than mine.

I read or heard this somewhere. When you don't have roll bars or a cage, it's dangrous to use racing harness. With stock seat belt, when you are in a roll over. It let's you slide down toward the floor when the roof is crushing down. With racing harness, it doesn't allow you to do that. It sort of make sense but can anyone confirm this theory.

Harness's are a pain in the butt. There nice until you need to do anything but look straight ahead. When I first installed them, I made my wife go for a ride with me. I got the pass harness all snug on her and away we went. Everything was fine until she reached for the radio/climate controls and couldn't get to them because of the harness. It was great. I highly recommend them for people who don't like pass to mess with buttons on the dash.

You guys should look at Matt93SE's setup, it's the best way to mount them in a maxima short of building a full cage.

i have one other question for everyone that is using a racing harness... where did you mount the shoulder straps to? did you mount them somewhere through the backseat or underneath the backseat? and pictures or input on this would be helpful.. thanks

Before anyone falmes let me say that I know I am putting myself at risk of destroying my back or killing my self. When I actually go auto-xing or road racing I will bolt the harness to the stock position beneath the backseat. This however, is not suitable for daily driving so I opted to bolt it to the bucket itself and reinforce it. The bucket is 1/2" fiberglass and lined the inside with 1/8" sheet metal to distribute the force more evenly. I also used 3" washers on the visible side of the mount. It is difficult to explain. I might take some pics tomorrow to demonstrate. After a month of driving I have not yet become annoyed with the harness and there are no crack in the surrounding fiberglass or elongation of the holes that the bolts go through. I don't worry about the mounting point giving way, I know that this is the wrong position for a shoulder harness. Thats why I would move it during racing.

thanks for the input... that was one of the things that i was considering doing when i got the seats installed, especially since i didnt want to have to lose the backseats because i frequently have many people in my car..
