The only thing I can think of is people were saying if you use the nismo head for the 350z, you can't use aftermarket cams like nismo, tomei, or JWT. I think it was because of the titanium valves though. They would hit the cam or something.

Someone else said that tomei has their cams listed as VQ30 and VQ35.

I already planned on using the 350z aftermarket cams and valvetrain .
In a thread awhile ago nealoc was saying that they could be used...

Would it be worth it? In an older SCC they have the NISMO Tune 350z's and they show a gain of 10hp and 5ft-lbs of torque over the stock(has a dyno sheet). The claimed crank hp is 305. It has nismo intake, headers, cams, and exhaust along with other things totaling $48,264(stock was $34,180). They have suspension, wheels brakes everything in there. All that for .1sec faster time in 1/4 mile, .1 in 0-60, 73mph in a slalom(70mph stock), .95g(.93 stock), and braking distances in 80-0, 70-0, and 60-0 all WORSE by 10ft by just using nismo brake pads. Again I'm guessing it'll be different somehow on the vq30.

I haven't disassembled the VQ35 enough to see the individual components to compare against my 95.
You are right, the VTC assemblies on my VE I have apart are pretty big compared to the regular cam sprockets. I am not sure of the way to get around them, especially since the heads have holes for the VTCs.

the other question is why would you want cams made for an engine with .5 more liters of displacement, totally different timing and breathing characteristics, not to mention higher compression?

Cam profiles are carefully and individually tuned to each motor.

As to whether or not they make power... well

SCC is full of it

Anyone have the NISMO VQ35 cam specs?

What could be different besides duration/lift?

Looking at the VQ30 vs VQ35 JWT cams, the VQ35s have about 4-degrees more duration and 0.4" more lift.

Someone explain?
