What is going on with my fan?

I have noticed this about 2 days ago. Under normal drive conditions (45-60 MPH) the fans come on and will not turn off. This morning I get to work after driving the about 17 mile out side temp 62 the fans come on, I open the hood to see how long it would take to shut off…. well it didn’t. After about 15-20 I turn the car off and started it back up now there off. It just doesn’t seem to turn off unless I turn the car on once on. This can’t be normal

It should be the car only has 5900 mile on it. The problem with the dealers around here is that they are not very friendly once they see mod under the hood. Not to mention all the chrome work I have under the hood know telling what they do. I use them as a last resort.

check to see if the car is overheating. You may not have noticed if the temp needle raised a bit, check it out on the next drive. Check your coolant level, you may have a leak.

I didn't notice, but by temp guage was 3/4 way up and it turns out my radiator was busted. Normally its a notch below half...

Is your Auto Climate control (if equipped) on?

If the A/C compressor is running your fans will run continuosly.

Maybe a fan relay that's sticking.
I know on the 3rd gen we have two fan relays for both fans.
One relay controls low speed (for both fans togther)
The other relay control high speed again for both fans.
Try switching the fan relay with a known good relay and see what happens

I’ll check the fan relay.

Njmaxseltd: the AC was not on

KiLLeR2002se: I’ve been keeping an eye on the temp gauge and it’s reading normal (just below half)

This morning when I got to work its wasn’t on, left the car running in the parking lot with the hood open and about 10 min it can on. It’s been about 15-20 min and it has not gone off

OK no A/C, then change the fan relay. If that doesn't solve the problem change the engine coolant temp sensor.

I'll try that. Thanks
