All generation Maxima bragging rights 1/4 mile event and meet. Who's interested?

This could be the event that finally proves who really is the quickest NA and boosted. Racing at one track on the same day would level the playing field and it would prove once and for all who's really the quickest No excuses about conditions or traction. I suggest a "run whatcha brung" mantra which means gut the car, run slicks, race gas, what ever. Your ego is at stake so make it count. The race would also serve as a bit of a Maxima meet where you could get put a face to a name and BS about anything.

Unfortunately the United States covers a lot of ground therefore it's doubtful a lot of people can attend, BUT the majority of the quicker guys on the Org seem to be located in the Midwest and the South. In another post someone mentioned Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, KY (home of the Corvette). Beech Bend appears to offer an acceptable traveling distance (within 8 hours) for most. Another plus is this track has Grudge racing on Saturdays which would save many of us from having to take vacation time at work.

http://www.beechbend.com/Drag%20Schedule.htm

People seem to want to get something going in the Fall, but I don't think it really makes much difference because everyone will have to deal with the conditions so prior personal best ET/MPH really isn't at stake at this event.

I'm not suggesting that I'll be organzing this thing, instead I'm just throwing ideas out there. The less organized it stays, probably the better. Here's some suggestions:

1) Beech Bend is actually a mutli-purpose park. They have an amusement park, putt putt, go-kart racing, water park, etc. Most importantly is that they have campgrounds. This could really be a sweet deal at $20 a night. People could hang out on Saturday morning till around 5 pm when the track opens.

2) Since the track isn't being rented out there's no upfront money.

3) If weather looks bad the day of, then just reschedule the event and no one looses money. Concerning weather, this is another reason not to significantly delay the date of the event because you'll run out of time before it gets too cold out. They do run into November. I'm a big camper so I can deal with the heat/cold, but I don't know about others.

That's it. I think it could be a great time. Discuss.

I'm in. Only thing I worry about is both times I have been to that track it has been packed. Only like 3 runs.

That is my concern as well, but I would be down for this anyhow. I just need enough heads up to plan.

The chariot is down, the good news is the savings for the repairs and parts continues to rise ! To me this would be the event of all events and you can count on me to show up, bring a camcorder, and make a full video of it all and school you and mike in the process ! (just building the tension)

Here is my downside, im available July, August, and maybe September but doubtful.

I agree about the weather, it would not matter if its hot, trying to best the PB isnt the issue in KING OF THE HILL !

Man, I hope this goes down, the Maxima Superbowl !

I will discuss this with my brother who has been to a Grand Prix meet in about the same location.

It would be nice to get enough people to reserve the entire track so that everyone gets plenty of runs in.

Im game

That's not too bad for th SouthEastern crew. We could do a "tour" up there. A line of fast maxes tearing up the streets.

Come up with a date so everybody can start making plans (and more mods).

I like the whole idea but would prefer run what you brung but "no slicks or drag radials" allowed. Also need to make it fair and put a few things out there, should everyone run full interior? I just don't want to go out there and someone get beat and then come back with excuses to say he only beat be bc he had full interior etc etc. I would say sometime in September to give everyone plenty of time to get off work plan, and get a room for the longer trips. Im in....

I wont get to check this until late Sunday bc Im going to visit my grandpa thats sick with cancer. Take care!

I also think we need to come up with a guildine to define street trim.

No DRs, no slicks, no race gas. Full interiors (minuts floor mats and stereos). Gutted trunk is ok.

...stuff like that.

i think that if this is supposed to be a track day to see who is fastest then we shuld all be able to use any advantage that we can. i wont go to the track if i'm not gonna be able to run my fastest and if slicks and a gutted car help me to beat someone then i dont se why we shouldn't be able to run like that. next you guys are gonna put a limitation on how much boost or no no2 should be allowed. people should run wat they brung.

If you limited it to just street tires, then that would really give me an advantage since other Maximas that run mid 14s have severe traction issues. When I run mid 14s on street tires, I barely spin them a little off the line and it hooks. Even with my high stall TC! No low end power in the VE and VLSD helps I guess.

But it's not fair to some people that need slicks. I say, run whatcha brung! Sorry, I won't be able to make this. It's a rediculous drive across country just to make it to the track.

I will see what is involved in securing the track for us. I think if we are gonna do it then we need to make sure we are gonna have more than a few runs. Looks like open saturdays are July 17 -- August 14, 21 -- september 4, 11 -- october 23, 30 -- every saturday in november.

You guys should do eliminations for fun. First guy to the end of the track wins! Then if you get eliminated, you can go into the Time Run Only lane and finish the day out there. So you'll have a King of the Track champion and you can always figure up who's times are the fastest when seperated in different classes. Sounds like fun.

I don't think there should be limits on tires, weight reduction, or fuel type.

Vegas can easily hold 500 race cars at one time. Too bad that happens every other Friday night when they have the ricer event called Midnight Mayhem. You only get in a 3 runs if you're lucky.

There needs to be divisions such as tranny too b/c everyone knows a 5 speed stock and lightly modded auto (CAI, Y-pipe, and probably lighter tires) isn't even a competition. the 5 speed or 6 will blow the tranny ecu off the auto in 2.5.

Side note: Ceasar and I will be in the States until the 3rd week of August, so make it before then so we can come!!! :-)

I'd be there no question. there shouldn't be any limit on what can or can't be done to the car. Weight reduction, tires, etc, they are all just "mods". Some people are willing to strip their car or drop $300 on slicks to be faster, and they should not be penalized for that fact just because others aren't willing to go to the same extremes they are. By that rationale the stock guys could say "y pipes shouldn't be allowed we should all just run stock and see who's the better driver". That's not what king of the hill is all about. King of the hill is about doing everything you can do be the top dog, no limits. Or there could be a few different categories such as FI, n/a full street, and n/a no holds barred.

Dont worry about that. I think the point of the event would just be for everyone to get some times on the same day at the same track.

I dont forsee the need for any kind of eliminations from heads-up racing.

By the end of the day, everyone will have some numbers, then we can break those down into whatever categories we want for comparison.
