HID problems

so i got the HID's all wired up and the projectors installed but now i'm having a problem with one of the ballasts. one of them doesnt work unless its metal casing is touching a ground on the car. i kno its the actuall ballast cause i switched them around a few times and it only happens with the 1. when its grounded to the car it works perfectly but this is really worrying me. it not any of my wireing causing the problem (which is what i expected to be the case seeing as how this is the first time i've done anything like this) but the actual hardware... am i hurting the ballast at all if i hook it up this way? i kno this is screwed up but i cant figure out whats wrong with it

It sounds as though the ground wire going into the ballast may have worked its way loose somewhere. If you've double checked all your connections, and it still happens,I would venture to say it sounds like a bad ballast, but I've not dealt with HIDs so I could be wrong.

the thing is i can unplug it and move it to the other side and it still happens, the other one works fine on either side, therefore i dont see how it can be my wireing...

Simple, just bolt the ballast to the chassis.. Shouldn't hurt the ballast at all..

Check the simple stuff first like the fuse. Both my HID's went out one night and I had to drive home with my fogs (scary, because I couldn't see crap when I got back to the woods). Turned out that it was the fuses.
