hey fellow maxima lovers i have a question for u. ever since i did my '01 manual swap i've noticed that my car moves alot faster. i mean it accelerates alot faster. the only thing that i've added since i swapped my 5-speed tranny was a underdrive pulley. so its either the pulley or a better accelerating tranny. i dont know wat the 98 maxima gear ratios are compared to the 01. so if anyone knows if they are differnt please let me know so i can figure out y i beat my friend u used to walk me every time we raced.

i kno this isnt a race thread but so far i beat a jdm h22 hatch civic and once i put in the pulley i beat my friends 22psi 1.8t 2003 jetta. im just stumped as to how i beat these people.
maybe the pulley works that good????

 

The 4th and 5th gen 5-speed gear ratios are identical.

 

Only difference is that the 5th gen tranny's 1st and 2nd synchrosnizers are double baulk ring type synchronizers while in the 4th gen only the second is that type. Whatever the hell that means. Also on the LSD the side gear/pinion is 16/10 compared to 14/10 on the open dif.

i think mainly its your pulley. Its one of the best mods for low end power from what i've heard. and your car feels faster at low ends so they point to each other.
