So Sprint, does this mean Y2KevSE is out, and Maxima.org is now yours? Just curious.

Glad that someone took the initiative.. It's certainly good to have activity up there. I always thought it would make sense to combine the news posting from vqpower with the content and graphics of maxima.org... but Nuke? bleh. So boring. Some webdesigner needs to volunteer to make a better layout, or at least do some advanced tweaking to Nuke to make it more interesting...

i don't know why, but i take offence to your comment.. advance tweaking to nuke? its much harder to make a nuke site look like a normal site than it is to run a normal nuke package.

Luke and i know nuke inside out, we create our own modules and our own blocks. I have done indept programming in nuke with customizations. 1) i did that page in 1 day to replace the old org page. 2) i was keepign it simple, i am not ready to do indept nuke programming to that nuke page yet.

I know i said i could take critism, but your comment of a webdesigner needs to volunteer and do advance tweeking to nuke struck the wrong nerve. Its as if you are implying i have no knowledge in the area.

FYI.. this is my 4th nuke site that is on the internet and in production

Doug,
I really like the front page and the look of the other changes taking place. Simple +clean+sharp = elegant and fast IMHO.
While we are at it, what in the heck were you thinking when you took Prince and made him mod of the detail forum. He has a nice but firm way of handling people, he can speak intelligently about a huge range of subjects and he builds more goodwill around this place than anyone I can think of. This is a huge waste of talent. I think that was the only major point that you did not handle perfectly.
I do appreciate that you took charge and rapidly did some much needed changes and gave us some pleasant surprises.

I did not mean to imply that you didn't know what you are doing. I'm aware of Luke's nuke background as well. I've done a ton of nuke sites too, and some customization to boot. However, as you said, you did it in a day, and that's sorta the way it looks to me (not bad for a day tho!). I just presumed you didn't have time to do anything "extra" to make it more unique which is why I suggested volunteers. I'm not even sure what I had in mind, nor do I know what you mean by a "normal" site. But do with it what you like. I'm just glad that it's back.

let me give you a little history on what happen.

The org front page was down because of a cgi problem, so instead of fixing it.. i thought to luke.. why not nuke. Its easier to manage and it allows him and myself to do changes to it on the fly without ssh or ftp.

As you can see we are still working on it, i havn't even put back shop talk links yet. I threw it together while fixing the sql problem on the forums. I have a couple custom blocks and modules i plan to play with, such as sql queries w/ php back to vb to show forum information on the front page, but as of time right now, i don't know when i can do that. I still have **** load of stuff to do on the forums before i even customize the front page.

Modifiying the current Nuke theme to match the old format of the org took a couple hours it self. As i said, i didnt' just load up nuke and then copy data. It took php tweaking and sql tweaking.

i use to preach dominio because it allowed you to do web/db interaction without sql or oracle, but thta was before i learned php and sql

i do run dominio for my mail server at home though (turbomaxima.com)
