In most cases, and certainly in this one, good and inexpensive don't belong in the same sentence...

No the pep boys etc ones totally suck.

You mean REAL strobes, like:

http://www.citrano.com/car/pix/strobes_night.mov

(large 2meg file)

or do you mean fairy strobes?

I'd say about $250 - $275 and a long day of work putting them in...

Go to www.strobesnmore.com and tell Louis I sent you .. or that you got it from maxima.org -- sorry forgot to put this in earlier.... He's been getting a lot of orders from here, so keep the word goin... He's running a sale on the SuperPak stuff right now... $200 i think for a power supply and 4 strobes. You need a switch on top of that, get the rotary one...

pep boys strobe suck for many reasons

they only have one color

they only work in one speed

they burn out very quickly

they are over sized

they are not very bright

I have two of the Pep Boys Strobes, and for 14 bucks each, they get a lot of peoples attention. I know that they are not the true strobes that emergency vehicles have, but they are a fun, inexpensive way to add some life to the interior of your car at night. I have had them for over a year and a half, and they have never burned out. They still work great, and they are really bright. I shouldn't say this, but I pull two people over with just one which is located on the rear speaker deck. The people did not know what was going on! If you want to spend that much money, then get the ones that acitrano adores, but if you just want to have some cheap thrills, then get the ones from Pep Boys.

Save your pennies and go for the "real" deal. My boy mike has the "real" strobe kit in his max and its so @#$%*$ bright at night, it puts NY cop cars to shame! He also has the high beam flashers as well and that just tops it all off at night.

I have the high beam relay but have not yet installed it. I bet it would go well with my strobes though...

Whelen strobes are what all the police in my area use. One of my buddies is the local DARE officer and I helped him install them in a Crown Vic. The install was fairly simple.

Whelens are great strobes. Several of my friends are cops and many of them have Whelens in their vehicles.

What the hell is the point of strobes?

What will cops do if they see your strobes flashing and stuff?

I just don't understand the whole point, when do you guys use them? What do you use them for? attention and looks?

i'm just not getting it.

cops cant do anything when you are parked and have them on but if you are drivin and have them on then they can get you for improper use of lights and/or impersnating a police officer. i use them when i go to street racing meets, looks, show, whatever...

They're great attention getters for car alarms too. I mean who wouldn't look at the car with all the bright flashing lights that consequently is trying to be stolen. Seems more likely people will pay attention to your alarm when u got strobes.

By the way has anyone seen those yellow nascar saftey trucks with the strobes. Those are pretty brite. Just wondering if those are prolly 80w or above. The brighter the better.
