I was at the illegals this saturday when I remember seeing a green 99-00 V6 mustang 5spd beating everyone. He even beat a 4th gen auto that had intake and exhaust! All I could say was damn, since I was in a slow civic no way i'm gonna keep up with only 1.5liters of 92hp LOL. I looked stock and the driver was awesome, I seen him take down 4 modded neons, 3 modded civics (EXs and SI's), 2 3rd gen camaro's (one was a 305), 2 V6 accords, 2 integras, 1 96-98 mustang GT. All I can say is next time you try to pick on a V6 mustang you better bring it or get else .

The v6 Mustang has nothing. Less then 200HP heavy POS. I could beat them before the y-pipe. And this one is blasting GTs? Come again? You better look twice, he has NOS, or is a GT with all the badges removed.

There is a black one here. Beats everyone, says its a v6 and looks like one, but doesn't show anyone the engine, hmmm

Though he has everything down to the "TIP" if you listen, you can tell whats up.

I don't remember who sells them, but they are "supossed" to be a bad a$$ with it in.

It's very possible. They run low 15s stock for a V6 5spd. So I don't doubt that.

a slightly modded 5.0 can do a 14.0. if this means anything.

There are two 99+ modded V6s that run at KCIR and they are in the 16s. They might not be the best drivers, but even their trap speeds are bad (85mph). I don't doubt some of the V6 Stangs can be peppy, but I think most are still dawgs. I've never had a problem beating them quite easily...the 99 V6s that is.

Yeah but shing... the difference is that the max doesn't LOOK like it should have 300+ hp. With that fake hood scoop and all the musclecar looks that car better bring more than 200 hp. After all, my max is just a 4 door grocery getter Why should it be able to hang with a stang?

very cost-effective to tone down the looks for the base stang from the GT. It's respectably quick now, both V6 and GT versions, and mods aplenty for both. How slow do you want it to be?

Sorry but 5.0 mustangs are not that quick. Slightly modded in what way? Intake and exhaust. Sorry but it will take more power than 225hp plus the added power of the intake and exhaust to propel the 3400lbs mustang down the 1/4 in 14 sec.

BTW the way the 99+ mustang 5sp are pretty quick. I could see a 99+ V-6 5sp beating all those cars, especially since it had an intake and exhaust. With a good drive that car should be in the high 14's. Not many maximas 5sp or autos are in the 14's club. I'm not my best was 15.021 @ 92.xxx

I can't stand V6 stangs. but you can mod the crap out of them, and if you were dying to have a mustang, and could not afford the GT?.. I guess it would be great. They do make an Sc kit form Vortech, Gears are always available, all the suspension from a GT will fit. just not a real stang to me.
too bad that max could not lay the SMACK down! DawgDamnit!

In my racing crew..
We have a 99 v6 mustang with CAI and k&n with cobra rims.
I raced my 5th gen against him and ate him up.
I raced him with my g/f 4tgh gen (before s/c) ate him up too.
My other racing crew friend with a chevy s10 xtreme with only k&n ate him up too.
They're not that fast...

BTW he has a 5 speed... and my maxes are auto

Oh I agree with you, I'm not saying that they should have toned down the looks or anything. I'm just saying that buying a v6 mustang just isn't right. It's fine for a girl or whatever but it just doesn't have the raw power/feel of a GT or Cobra. These are american musclecars - classics in their own right... they shouldn't be disgraced with a 190 hp 6.

my friend has a 92 mustang 5.0..ive seen him run... his best i think was 14.12 ... its nice.. he has new headers..a cai..and flowmaster exhaust.... and some other little stuff.. but that little thing is nasty...haha too bad i dont run 14's...hgehe im like 2 seconds behind him

I have a friend in CT who has an '89 5.0 hatchback that can run 14.1 with a CAI.

I own a Camaro Z28 and deal heavily with the Muscle car crowd, and let me assure you that the v6 mustang is a 100% dog.

Shingles, I don’t know what your deal is, but these cars are slow. Likely over rated at 190HP and significantly heavier then my 96 Maxima which happens to be one of the lightest Maxima’s produced. Nor is it the same build quality or has such a smooth and responsive DOHC engine as our Maxima’s. I thought you were a Maxima Enthusist?


“HAHAHAHA how much power do you think your car has?” Hey, its no rocket ship, and I do know, I have a weekend race car and a Camaro, however our Maxima’s can haul friends, gets groceries and put the smack down on v6 stangs all while looking good and at the same time :P


My post was only stating that this is no ordinary v6 stand Mustang it it’s a v6 at all. If all v6 stangs just blast GTs, then hey, the GT must beat the Cobra in reverse?

Yea this was about 30min after we dropped you off. That V6 stang was kicking ***. I didnt' hear or see a SC on it but the guy knew how to drive it.

I am not a fan of V6 Mustangs in general, but this one ***** today really pissed me off. . . I was driving down this 2 way street going about 50 in a 45 after kinda acceleration hard after a light, and my V1 falses so I slowed to the limit. . . Well, I guess the Mustang was like pissed or something that I got so far ahead of him at the light and guns it as I slow down and passes me at 60 and then proceeds to cut me off immediately after, as the road goes down to one lane, and then he had to immediately slam on the brakes as someone turns in front of him. . . It wasn't like I was going slow or anything, and I didn't see any reason for doing this as he was going slower than me until I started to slow down. . . It is like he had something to prove. . . Sorry, just venting. . .
