i was doing donuts in the parking lot in my miata and forgot to shift to second gear, as i looked up i saw my needle all the way into the redline, i let off the gas n shift to nutral, but i went about 1000 rpms into red, maybe more, for like 5 seconds. the car has 93k on it. is it possible that i messed something up, head gasket or something? im sure i didnt blow the engine but just worried that i could have fuked something up, any theories on just how bad that is for your engine?

dont think you messed anything up, but good thing you didnt sit in the red line for a lot longer. I think since it was such a short time you didnt really occur damage.

as long as fuel did not cut off you are fine. but yeah,tranny may be different but dont worry, that not long enough.
