heavy keychain

does having a heavy key chain damage the starter in anyway? just wondering

Yes, having a heavy keychain will damage the starter. Its best if you stick with plastic keychains also. Metal keychains tend to conduct static electricity from your body and has been known to short the ignition fuse. This is why the key is covered in plastic.

It shouldn't hurt the starter, but the effect on your 1/4 mile time is your own risk!

It won't hurt the starter, but excessively heavy keychain collections might damage the ignition switch while hanging from the key.

Get a lighter key chain! It's easier to carry around!

My mother did some dmage to her T&C about a year ago. She had about 25 key on her keychain, and when she went over a big pothole, it was heavy enough to turn off the vehicle. Unfortunately she was going about 70 at the time and she got rear ended. She now has her keys and the alarm only on the keychain for her car.

im just real forgetful so ill probalby lock myself out of the house if i dont put my house keys with my car keys...
