Ebay Motors?

Anyone ever used Ebay to buy a car? Im thinkin about it but i know someone that got scammed and lost the money that he put down for the down payment,... If anyone has any suggestions as to how to go about buying a car off ebay or has any previous experiences i would appreciate it.

Check his feedback... Some dealers sell on ebay too, I think I would trust them more than regular people.

Get in contact with them, phone #, address.. whatever works and try to confirm it before you drop 50% of that payment.

My dad just bought his car off ebay . He only looked at cars that were from dealers and ended up settling the deal outside of ebay. I guess alot of the cars that get sold finish up like that. Definatley call the place and see if you can deal, but it is pretty safe using ebay to buy cars.

i used to sell cars on ebay last year...
Just check teh feedback...call up the place and talk to a salesmen...
if you are still unsure just ask him to take more pics of the car...close up shots or whatever..
if you live close go check the car out..
But the best thing to do if your going to buy a car...make sure you do it from a dealership!

I have purchased several large items off of ebay, but I usually do two things: 1)buy something local and 2) make a deal with the people before I bid that I can do a pick-up/pay for item within a set time (like a couple of days).

I haven't purchased a car, but I have bought and sold tires and wheels that way. I would think someone that wasn't trying to scam you would gladly wait a couple of days for someone local or semi-local to take cash/money order at time of delivery. That way, someone doesn't run off with a bunch of your money that you wire them. Also, Paypal has a protection policy you can buy for more expensive items, but I haven't used it.

If you are buying a car from someone cross country or over a few hundred miles away, I would agree with previous posts about trying to buy a car through a dealer.

Anyone have any ideas why the same cars are on ebay all the time. They finish up the auction time then they are back on again within a week. You think people buy em and try to sell em again or just put it back on eBay to try and get more for the car? There always is that chance of scamming tho

The reason the same cars are always up is because the people never sold the car during the first auction and are just relisting it. I highly doubt someone buying a car off ebay resells the same car for a profit. It would be extremely hard to do that unless you got a sweet deal the first time around.
