Semi

Man do I hate Semi trucks... damn things suck so bad...In the past week I have had two rocks flung from their tires hit my car....a 2 inch scratch (deep enough) above front passenger wheel. The same rock hit my headlight first then the paint (left mark on headlight). I also got a rock that hit my windshield and scratched that.

And this isn't the first time this has happened...In my bro's Sentra, I had a rock fly up and hit the windshield...left a HUGE crack in it..lucky it didn't break through...I'm just so pissed off...so I just had to vent.

And you didnt know that most semi trucking companies have a phone number out back on the trailer that you can call and almost all of them will fully reimburse you for flying rocks damaging your vehicle?

Actually I didn't know, thanks..but I still don't know which semi it came from..If any of you are from Jersey...I take 287 everyday...with tons of semis on it..and most rocks hit and I can't tell where they came from or where they hit until I check. Thanks for the info though, I didn't know they would actually reimburse you.

Yea they seriously do. Most major trucking companies do it. Happened to a friend of mine. Problem is I dont know if they'd want some kind of an accident report or not. To play it safe you might have to somehow stop the truck driver and talk to him or call and find out what the deal is with the company. If not you'll have to go to the police and make a report... just remember the trucks license plate number and remember trucks have 2 different license plates, one for the cab.. the truck itself and one for the trailer, they may even be from 2 different states but try to copy them both down.

Man that must be nice. When I lived in San Antonio alot of the semi's had bumper stickers that said "Stay 100 feet back! Not responsible for broken windshield's."

1 - stop tailgating!!
2 - insurance on 18wheelers are insanely high so to avoid a rate increase they are "generally" willing to give u $ to replace a windshield.

My favorite is when they "pass" one another and the passer is literally going 1 mph faster than the passee.

They raised the speed limit for semis to 65mph on the Ohio Turnpike with the hopes of luring them. I think they should be banned strictly to the turnpikes, that might help with some traffic problems. My .02.

I never tailgate anyone. I'm a very safe driver, I have never gotten a single ticket or anything (do like to speed on occasion though ). The rocks typically fly up when either I pass a truck or when one passes me. The latter being the main cause of the issue.
