Unstoppable Car Alarm

Hey I recently purchased a 1988 Nissan Maxima and the guy I purchased it from gave me no idea how to turn the car alarm off. Does anyone know how it works and how I can stop it?

I think it just came with the car because the lights flash and the horn goes off. I can stop the alarm by unhooking the horn and the accesories but it's still not technically stopped.

If it's a stock alarm, then try to turn the key counter clock wise at the door.Hope this will help.

yep... on pretty much most cars out there using the door handle key hole and turning it to "unlock" will shut down the factory system.

Put the key in the drivers door turn left then turn it right. It should stop after that if it goes off. Its ok I did not know what to do when I first got mine, but thats how my moms Volvo works too, so I used the idea.

yup, this works on my Dad's 97 Q45. he set off the alarm and started freaking out because he could not shut it off. I think that he was about 2 seconds from pulling the battery. Then, calmly, my little bro takes the keys from his hand, places them in the driver's door lock and turns....

haha

Please Help Me:

HELP! My 98 I30 (Maxima/A32) factory alarm's not responding to the remote or the keys in the door! I can unlock the driver door using the keys, but the alarm would go off and I could not get the car started. I tried staying inside the car until the alarm stops but it still didn't let me start the car. So I've tried everything, the car's not responding to the original factory keys (the manual itself says that the keys would deactivate the alarm system should it go off but it's not). How do I get the thing started somehow to bring to a dealership or something?

Oh yea, I tried replacing the battery in my remote, removing the battery terminal under hood to see if I could reset the ECU, resetting the ECU manually, etc. Nothing worked. My car's parked at work still and I have to go figure out some way to get it back today

Anyone with any suggestions can reply using this thread or PM me directly, thanks.
