I just got done smoking one on the way home from work. The guy had it done up really nice with a big aluminum wing and a lowered stance sitting on 18's I think, an exhaust system, yellow racing stripes and stickers tastefully placed over it. It was a 5 speed and I heard him downshift in front of me on the highway and we were in traffic. I turned off the OD and pulled up next to him getting into the right RPM for boost. We looked over at each other to see if the other was game and we mutally admired each others cars. I was in fast lane and he was in the lane next to me but he ran into slower traffic. He pulled in tight behind me and then shot through the holes in traffic. He finally got in front of me where traffic had finally cleared from around us. It was on!!! He downshifted with a huge puff of black smoke so I laid on the boost. I have never really felt what 3rd gear felt like in my car but I started to quickly gain on him and I whipped by him as he keep trying to keep me in his rearview.

We slowed down the pace and eventually pulled into a restuarant to talk some. He didn't have any internal mods on his car and the only thing that I saw was a K&N like airfilter. I asked if he had an M engine in the car and he said that it was stock with a lot of miles on it. He said that he knew that my car had to be modified since Maxima's didn't normally keep up with him like mine did. Pretty cool guy. He works up at Chris BMW as a mechanic so I am sure that he does all his own wrenching on his car.

BMW 325 5-speed is a 15 sec car at best...
even with such a potent mod as a K&N filter...

Smoked a BMW 325

no it was a bit older. Still he tried to be quick. Yeah I am supercharged so it wasn't that big of a problem to catch up to him and blow by him.

Feels so good to be so bad

He had both an M emblem and the 325 emblem on his car. Maybe I should put a "Powered by Vortech" sticker on my rear window for all those that fall prey to my Maxima.

My Brother has one

a 95 5-speed coupe, I believe. He has a Dinan chip, full exhaust, and intake. Nothing really heavily modded though. With his stock 15" wheels, it's just as fast as my 5-speed Maxima...but it's loud as hell.

Was this car black w/ yellow/orange racing stripes? And one of those stupid APR wings on the back? If that's the car, the owner is a ****. Was he about 40 is or so? He goes to all the shows bragging about how fast his car is. He claims his car runs a 13.6 or so. At the shows, all he does is rev his car up. If you look at him too long, he'll jump in his car and rev it up to show off. He claims that he has all kinds of internal work, like cams, new crank, headwork, etc. But the only mods I've seen on his car are a cheap $20 Ractive filter and really cheap NOPI muffler. Here's the great part. The muffler is a 2.5" muffler, but he has 3" piping up to it w/ no reducer. When that 3" pipe meets the 2.5" hole in the muffler, you know that's gotta be good for flow. He has the M badge, and 325 badge. He also has his engine painted red w/ the M badge. Sad part is, he painted the plastic cover while it was on the engine so there's overspray of spray paint everywhere. Plus the paint is chipping. This is the most ghetto BMW I've seen, it's kind of embarassing. There have been guys that have run him, and he's not that fast. Most immature 40 year old man I've ever met.

Yeah, I remember that car. Not one of the finest specimens of German machinery.

Re: Sounds like the car.

It did have a big *** aluminum wing and a pair of orange stripes down the center of the car. He did look around in early to mid 30's and he was wearing racing gloves while he drove. I got out of my car after I got done smoking him and he had to take off his racing gloves. Yeah, those did you a lot of good. HAHA!

He did have some nice Recaros in there but he had a shifter light that was all the way on the passangers side of the car. What good does it do there? Does he think that he will draw even more attention if someone sees the shift light and huge tach on the drivers side? Like the stickers, wing, loud *** exhaust sytem, and stripes wouldn't?

It was funny, we were leaving a parking lot and he was in front of me. He decided to impress me by doing a burnout to launch himself out into traffic. He did a not burnout with only one wheel spinning. Later I caught up to him and there was a terrible screeching noise coming from his car. He had spun a bearing in his car and it was making lots of noise. GOOD ONE! IMPRESSIVE!

He was alright to talk to, not like your typical snobbish BMW guy.
