I know we have been over this many times before, but to the latest update on the radar technology, and I don't want to go by what sites have. I want to go by experience on what people have used here. I have used a Bel for many years, and loved it. But I really am considering dropping the bomb on a Valentine V1 radar. I want to know what you guys think of this bad boy, compared to Passport 8500 and the new Bel. Thanks guys.

They are both great (v1 and 8500). Usually V1 wins every single test roundup. But, from what I read, 8500 is now giving V1 a run for its money. I love my V1.

You gave in, huh?:)
Russ-
I can remember a year ago when you fought me to death b/c I got the V1 and now you are thinking about buying one, huh?![Smilie](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Anyway, I have sold my V1 and bought the 8500 for $100 less. If you have never experienced the "V1 ARROWS' then don't worry about them. I had them and no I hate the fact they aren't there on the 8500. What do I like BETTER about the 8500? The fact its small, visually appealing and its cheaper!
Performance? The 8500 falses less Ka yet detects it at greater distances. Not 50 ft...but like 1/2 of a mile! The rest of the bands are about identical with the 8500 seeming to have a slight advantage that isn't worth mentioning.
A year ago I got FLAMED because I said my v1 falsed a lot. I am here to tell you I was right. The 8500 is silent!!! I almost forgot...the programmin logic on this thing kills the V1. Instead of a huge **** to press you have a button that can program everything from the display to the automute! It's great!
SHUMAX
BTW...I do miss those arrows though

I haven't had either yet but I was leaning towards the escort passport. It is more visually appealling and it's cheaper. Check this website out www.radartest.com
