I need a piece fo 1/4" piece of aluminum or steel block but I can find no where online to get it. Could someone point me to a store to go to or something. Thanks.

grab your yellow pages and look under metal fabricators or metal supply shops.

depending on the size you need, you may find it in the scrap pile at a metal fab shop. they usually have no problem if you dig through their scraps and pick up small stuff like that.

 

How big of a piece do you need? We've got tons of it at the shop, but if it's too large, it's not cost effective to ship it.

And decide whether you need steel or aluminum, they are very different. Aluminum is a lot more expensive, so if you don't need its properties, go w/ steel.

for 1/4 you tried your local home depot? (depends on the size of "block" you're looking for)

 

Look for machine shops in the yellow pages.

 

I just looked at Lowe's today, basically the same place. I found a 1/4 inche plate of steel about a square foot for $25. And I also found a 16 gauge thickness piece of steel, about a square foot. It was real sturdy. Do you think I could use the 16 gauge plate of steel to make an adapter plate?
