These will increase vibration but not as much as the much harder Place Racing type. Its certainly vibration that can be overcome by slip launching at 3K.

Why would you put the bushings in hot water? That would only expand them. If anything put them in the freezer.

actually, freezing expands. i think the heat would be to soften it up.

What ive seen and sounds pretty good is to take a tower melt the inards, then take a sawsall and cut the inner ring out of the mount. Then take and put the insert in the mount just enough so that it will stand up right. Once its able to stand on its own and straight put it in a vise bench and press it in.

Almost all materials, with the notable exception of water, expand as they get hotter and contract as they get cooler. So no. But I think that heating the bushings would make them softer so that could make them easier to press in.

Hmm...that sounds pretty easy. But I don't have a bench vice and I'd have to buy a torch and a saw.

Does anyone know of any write-ups on removing and installing motor mount inserts for the do-it-yourselfer? I may have to resort to that.

i stand corrected. but yes, the warm water would soften it up.

vquick you can check the sr20forums as alot of them have done them thereselves. You will what a sawsall because it is openeded and powered. I would also get some metal blades so you can actually cut the metal. The regular ones dont work so well.

I also think some lube a piece of wood and a sledgehammer will probably work.

Thanks for the ideas and the reference! I went to sr20forum.com and searched for threads on installing motor mount inserts. I came up with a bunch of good info, including the clever do-it-yourself technique that Broaner and I used earlier this evening...USE THE CAR AS A PRESS! We just applied a little oil to the bushing and the inside of the mount for lubrication, jacked up the rear of Broan's soon-to-be retired Maxima, laid the mount on its side on a 2x4, lined up the bushing on top, and slowly lowered the car with the jack until the tire pressed the bushing in. Took less than 15 minutes. Then we proceeded to torch out the stock insert in the other motor mount. Broan's gonna hack/chisel out the metal sleeve tomorrow, we'll use the car press again, and then I'll finally be good to go.

For future reference, here's the thread (see post #11): http://www.sr20forum.com/showthread.php?t=70291 Props to Justin on that forum for his method!

Thanks everyone.

Ok....I'm bringing this thread back.....

Broaner- Do you have personal experience with both?

Has anybody else gone from PR mounts to ES? My PR mounts vibrate a good deal at idle. I would like to see if anybody else had experience with both.

The listing on the suspension.com says that the Energy Suspension Motor Mounts will not work with my Automatic maxima? why is that?

Is filling them with urethane my only option besides buying new ones from the dealer?

Thanks,
Dave

the automatic motor mounts are larger than the manual ones. just get the cores at the junk yard.

in addition to achieving the cores at the junk yard, that another option is for the maxima automatic since I have looked very much in Internet and there are no others restored, although any of them manage they do not say that it marks they are but alparecer is the same of ES, a good serious idea that someone providing which is the diameter of motor mounts front, the automatic support measured 10 cm., someone can say all that measures the manual.
