RaceTrac raised prices again today. I filled up my truck this morning on the way to work. Prices were $1.99, 2.09 and 2.19. This afternoon on the way from work they were $2.03, 2.13 and 2.23.

Today Tuesday RaceTrac lowered their prices to $1.98, 2.08 and 2.18.

 

RaceTrac is back up again today. $2.03, 2.13 and 2.23. That's 5 cents a gallon more than yesterday.

 

gas is over 4.00 dollars a gallon here, and that is for 91

Everything is cyclical--most everything. An exception would be EA Sports' stock, it has only gone up.

My prediction is that oil may continue to go up, but if it were that simple, why not buy some futures and cash in? Because it's not that easy. I think $3/gallon unleaded is such a psychological threshold that if we reach it, it will throw our economy into a full-blown recession. We've already felt the pinch in our 401k and trading portfolios, pricing pressure on any do-it-yourself house related items. Real estate may not be a bubble, but prices have softened, even in places like Boston. And with China shifting monetary policy we're gonna kiss the $499 P4 3.x ghz 512 mb ram 80 ultra gb hdd etc. goodbye soon, as well as all the other electronics they make. Many of those things have 2-3% margins at best, they're not like fat Cisco who enjoys 20%+ yet still provides no return to shareholders. Thing is, all of the above is beyond our control as individuals--as I said before, the only thing we can do to fight it is get better jobs while we can. I'm not pro-Bush, but our problems are way bigger than he will ever be.

 

lol...ours this morning is $2.27 for 87 and over $3.00 for premium! They say it's going to keep going up by about .08 a day all week here.

 

Well where I'm from there is an 11 cent differential per litre between regular and premium. Depending on the exchange rate, that is a minimum of 16 cents US per US gallon. So the spread is even wider here and we pay considerably more for all gas grades than in the US because of high taxes. We are a next exporter of oil and our country doesn't have the twin-deficit problem the US has - we have a surplus. So consider yourself lucky. Think how much its costing the Germans to cruise down the autobahn at 240 km/hour, lol!

 

Just filled my car up today and it cost me $43 and ssome change. $2.63 a gallon. what a nightmare and this is only the begining. Here in west los angeles, when gas prices are good its about $2.20 for 91.

 

Shell increased their prices to $2.15, 2.25 and $2.37 overnight.

 

Mobil went up to $2.44, last night it was $2.33

 

Guys I pay 89 CENTS a gallon for 91 octane.

Not sure how I did it, and it was stupid in retrospect, but I didn't buy any gas since 3/13, and it's gone steadily up. We left for golf yesterday at 7:30 am, and Hess was 2.039 for regular. When we got back it was 2.079. There is no hyper-inflation in the USA, it's the greed of the oil business.

But I believe the economy works in cycles, even though people in oil and gasoline retail think they're gonna be sending their kids to Yale and retire on easy street: the money they're making hand-over-fist will not be sustained, so they better not be living it up. There's no easy money in life.

That being said the conspiracy continues--regular unleaded Sunoco is 2.139 by my gym. Go 4.5 miles down the road to a neighborhood that's starting to dilapidate, super unleaded Sunoco is 2.199, which is what I paid. It's really laughable that one Sunoco can charge only 6 cents more for super than another does for regular, within 5 miles of another. At least I whip out the Sunoco gas card which gets me the super for 2.111. What a bargain....

 

Two and an half years ago I bought gas for the cheapest price I had/have ever seen in my life....

My american friends...you guys are lucky compared to us canadians...Gas prices are cheap in your neck of the woods compared to here in Montreal. I just paid US $3.29 for a gallon for 93 octane this past weekend.

I live in Oklahoma... big Oil and Gas state! The industry here is loving it! Deepening everyones pockets around here that are in the business.

 

Yeah, but your dollar has made such gains against ours that you can easily afford to vacation at our Jersey shore and buy our houses. You have gained 25% against us in the exchange rate while we scratch our heads and wonder why a regular hamburger with fries and drink costs $14 US in Norway, yet besides defense why nobody buys any American products. Even Boeing thanks China for a projected 197 billion $ of business over the next 20 years by manufacturing 737/757 parts in China. And wouldn't you know who ordered 60 of the 787 Dreamliners.....American companies? No, Chinese. Point being, we used to be a country that manufactured things (or so my grandpa tells me, I've never seen it) instead of thinking we could get rich by selling petrol.

 

And we have to shift from a country that made those manufactured products cheap... like China and India to something else. They are becoming into what we evolved into years ago.. now its time for us to evolve.

I don't think China's draw is "cheap." An example is the 737/757 fins, tails, etc. They know how to make them well. Ditto with Mexico--my HDTV is very high quality from Mexico, as are my 100% wool slacks. Even my Milwaukee hammer drill was not made in USA, nor my DeWalt drill bits. I have high end appliances, gas range made in USA, dishwasher made in Mexico. Dishwasher has been flawless. Gas range has had 4 service calls. All of the above represent a variety of products. imho we all need to watch "Miracle" and toughen up. Sure, that's Disney, but you know what I mean. We need to play smarter.

lol i just found out today that my mother is going to trade in her V6 Caravan for a new Toyota. I bet it's gonna be the hybrid she's gonna be interested in. I wonder if oil in general is actually running out...if oil runs out, we're in a whole crap load of troubles.

 

Yeah, how much more oil do we have anyways? The U.S. alone uses a sh!tload of oil each day!

 

Just paid 2.24 and 9/10 for 93 octane at QT in Plano.

We create our own situations in life. If we continue to rely on oil they will keep pricing it wherever they want. But just like with the "illegal" file swapping issue, if you can get it by 'other' means then you short circuit the process and force them to stop gouging people on the price or find other ways to deliver the product.



Imho, it all comes down to people taking responsibility for there own situation. There are other ways that exist right now to power a car other than oil, can't take the price of oil or the lack of control you have over it, go buy or build an alternative fuel-powered car. Hydrogen, solar, cooking grease, chicken turds, etc. take your pick.

Was in Jersey today so I filled up. Wow, 2.08 for premium. That's cheap when compared with PA where it's as high as 2.39. What a difference a river makes, and a state line. When the pump stopped after only 1.3 gal went in, the full serve attendant asked me is it really full? I said you better believe it, I just saved 40.3 cents by gassing up in Jersey!

It is 2.76 cents for 91 octane where i am
