1998 mirror replacement, HELP!
1998 mirror replacement, HELP!
First I would just like to say i would have posted this in the 4th gen. section, but I am new and not allowed to post new threads yet there.
I have a 1998 maxima, I was recently hit while my car was paralell parked on a narrow street and the mirror was knocked off, n most the plastic was broken.
The cost to replace the mirror alone without instillation was 250$. I decided that was too much so I went and ordered it offline for 70$... Go figure.
Any way now to the problem, I have the mirror now, and if you couldnt guess dont like spending money when it can be avoided, would it be possible for any one to explain to me how to replace the mirror on my own, the mirror is on the passenger side, power, non-heated.
( and for anyone wondering about insurrance, i have a 500$ deductable, so ill be paying it all myself any way, and if i dont report it my rates wont go up
)

its just a mirror, you don't need to report it for insurance, and you could have gotten one off ebay for cheap, maybe not OEM though, 250 for a mirror plus installation is ridiculous. its very simple to replace, but you need to remove your interior door panel.
there are two screws on the bottom and one under the cover of the handle thats next to the window switch. then you also need to pry off the plastic behind the handle you use to open the door near top closest to mirror. don't break them, pry them off with a screwdriver and towel. after that, lift up to remove interior panel, becareful because there are wires connected to it. then unscrew the triangular piece, remove the three bolts holding the mirror and unplug the wire and your done. installation is reversed.
