sounds like the driver's side front wheel bearing is on it's way out...it screeches on certain left hand turns. what's the easiest and/or cheapest way to replace it?

go to lacal junk yard and try to score low milage spindle , it will come with hub/bearing/steering knuckle and ABS sensor. If you find one with low miles - this would be the cheapest way

or buy the bearings yourself, pull the spindle off the car and take it to your local machine shop/some auto part stores will do it. Have them press the bearing in for about $40

re-install and align the car

Nick.

The one thing he didn't mention in that article is that it's very common for the wheel bearing to ruin the wheel hub when it goes. I've seen it probably a dozen times so far.

the inner race will wear down on the hub causing it not to fit properly and spin with the outer section.. not good. it'll ruin that brand new wheel bearing in a matter of days if you don't repalce it.

If you catch the problem soon enough, that's usually not an issue, but most of us don't realize what it is until too late to save the hub.
