Air Tool Setup and Guns..

Any high quality socket such as Craftsman, Kobalt, SnapOn, Mac, etc. can be used on a 1/2" drive impact gun. You just have to be careful not to abuse the socket too much. Even my mightly IR 2135Ti never broke any of my Kobalt or Snap On sockets through legitimate use.
I'm doing the opposite. I'm doubling up and using my impact sockets on my ratchets. I have both standard and deep impact sockets so I use the shallow ones mostly on my ratchets and the deep ones on my IR 2135Ti. I'm only talking about 1/2" drive here though. I have a set of standard 3/8" and 1/4" drive snap-on sockets as well that I got used off ebay for about $30 a piece
This is my air compressor, works great and doesnt kick on much.

At the shop we have 500 gallons and a huge compressor. dont know what brand tho
heres my opinions
Husky tools suck, their composite impact feels pretty cool and is cheap but it is cheap
Snap on air ratchets suck, atleast their 1/4" ones. I've had 2 break on me.
You can't go wrong with MAC
Ingersol Rand tools are awesome. hopefully going to get the 2135TI for me for christmas.
if i think of anything else ill post it

That Air tank is most likely too small on that Unit.. every time you take a bolt off, if it even has enough juice to take it off, youll have to hear the machine scream as it fills back up....kind of annoying

Just Re-bumping an old thread with good information. From this thread I know what to look for in a compressor. In regards to the HP rating on the Compressor since it isnt the motor rating then I dont really need to pay much attention to the rating, just as long as the maximul PSI is high enough and the tank size?
Also I am looking to pick up a paint gun, but honnestly not sure which kind to pick up and would greatly appreciate some recomendations or what to keep and eye out for when browsing.

I too am curious. All I know is that I need an HVLP gun and thats as far as my knowledge goes. I don't know the tip needed, type of air compressor, gallons, etc etc etc. I think Mr.Gone has painted his cars so I hope he can chime in on this portion.
Yea I was going to PM him but figured I woudl bump this thread up and let others get the information too.
I believe on most Guns the tip is adjustable, so you can get a light to heavy spray

I highly suggest you search for threads/posts by them and bump them. They tend to give a lot (and I mean lot) of good info..... so much they probably won't want to type it all over and over again
. They tend to be in the 3rd gen forum btw.

Oh no, no rollers over here. Know any good places besides the link I posted to get a SATA gun?

unless someone does it for me

(oh I should update, my compressor is getting kind of tired. Well the seals anyway. Same Craftsmen one I linked to above. It just takes longer to fill and slowly bleeds. I've had it 3 or 4 years and when I bought it the guy said I'd probably have to rering it every other year or so (he was also trying to push a warranty....). Most of the time I don't bother emptying it since I hate hearing the noise. I've been thinking about selling it after I rering it and upgrading to a 2 stage, maybe even a 220v - I need to look into wiring more since I'm also considering jumping to 220v welders. I'm a house n00b
).
Ebay has some of the SATA guns, for what seems to be a decent price (still time left on the auctions). My Ebay search was just for "SATA" the refind to Car parts, other wise you'll be looking at a lot of processors, and hard drives.
Still exploring other places and will post them up when I find them

I shop harbor every now and then but too many times have been unsatisfied with the quality. For Air tools and Paint gun, I'd rather spend the extra money and have something durable and lifetime warantee
