Ok... so i'm at a red light in the center lane... a guy in a GTP left of me in the turning lane is checking my car out so when the light turns green I launch a little to look cool and make him feel like a fool for not getting a maxima... then out of nowhere, some old dude in the right lane starts pulling on my in his buick century... I'm like: no you don't... so I floor it to redline in second then lose him in third... but it was still a close call (until i lost him in 3rd)... anybody know the specs on a buick century.. i would guess 1997...

don't worry guys... I still saved face, just a little shaken up by the thought of being killed by a buick

Sure it wans't a Regal GS??

when my dad was looking for a new car we tested the '00 SC'd Buick Regal GS and for a bulky automatic sedan that thing is quick. 240hp and I looked up some specs and it says 15.0 1/4th mile stock. anyways in the end my dad chickened out and got the LS (non-SC model), 80 less HP, but oh well he still likes it! I'm not sure on the Buick Centuries, but I wouldn't mind a Regal GS when I get a little older, I'd be the quickest guy in the retirement home!!

careful...

I think there are supercharged Buick Centurys, but I don't think they can take a 5spd Maxima. The Ultimate Sleeper = Buick. Old-man-mobile

The Grand Nationals and the GNX are in their own class. They used to be the fastest prodcution car in their time. GM killed it cause it was faster than the Corvette.

it could have been the superchraged one... but I still took him so blah!

as for the GNX... that don't count... they are very fast and there is basicly nothing buick about them... they were faster then the vettes on the 1/4 (and not anywhere else) the reason they only lasted one year was because the GNX package cost an extra $10,000 on a car that was loaded at a little over twenty. Too expensive for what it was...

yes

Was probably a Buick Regal.. if it says GS or GSE on the back then it is SC'd .. they will beat an auto max and are maybe just a little faster than a 5spd maxima stock for stock ..

Hell yeah they are in their own class... My cousin has owned nothing but Turbo regals. He has one modded GN but never races anymore. Fast, fast car. I would gladly trade my Maxima in for one.

A dealer told me the Regal GS is the Grand Prix GTP in Buick skin (same platform and SC'd engine). I've run them on the highway but not from a stop. I haven't been overtaken by one at speed, and they seem to putter out around 110 or so, and the body is bouncing all around the place. I'm assuming they have a limiter of some sort and a much softer suspension.

~110mph is also a 'sweet spot' for auto max's cuz you're in the power band in 3rd, so u really take em at that speed, their limiter is @ 112....i think
