ANYBODY WITH 'Blacked-Out' Emblems???

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has a max with blacked out emblems, and how they got them/ if you can DIY? I think it would look pretty cool, but don't know where to find them. PLZ POST PICS IF YOU DO!

uh just take off your current emblems, clean it, paint it black. voila: blacked out emblems. to take off the emblems, use a hair dryer or heat gun to melt the glue holding the emblems onto the car.

The stock AE emblems are blacked out. Someone might be selling some in the 5th gen FS forum.

AE refers to the Anniversary Edition Maxima which was sold in 2001.

If you want to smoke your lenses, buy some nightshades paint. You just spray it on and it will come off with nailpolish remover, or you can paint a clear coat overtop to make it permanent. When I did my taillights, I actually opened up the lense and spray painted the inner housing black which is an alternative way.

3m exterior mounting tape. comes in a roll, you just have to cut it into pieces or around the letters.

And I finally took some pix.

BTW what did u use to paint them? I used a few coats of spray touch up paint and a few of clear coat. It seems to chip after a while, which I expected. How do yours hold up?

i used the crappy 98 cent stuff from walmart i belive, or maybe rustolem, not sure. i did my dads last year and only now is it starting to pit from rocks. no worse than the chrome with rock chips, at least you can repaint them quick.

yea about the ambers, they are cool. im going to do clear bumper ligts painted the same way, theyre in the mail and i will have them on the car soon.

Hey guys, how long did this process take you? and did you use clear coat? if you did, do you wait until after the paint dries to spray? i'm gonna post pics when im done in the 4th gen forum. i hope this was an original idea/variation that i had.
