Can someone tell me how I could make it so the remote start senses when the car is in neutral, so it will only start it when it's out of gear. I know a few people have done this, but nobody seems to have any information on it.

I don't think you can do that "sense in neutral" thing, but I do know you can wire the remote start to think that there is no clutch, or fool it in to thinking that the clutch is down... A simple rig of a standard relay, matched with either a 12v+ or 12v- signal of your clutch (being down of course)... That will let your remote start do its work. I know alot of people with remote start systems in 5-spd cars and they always just make sure that they are out of gear when they know they will be using the remote start, or know when they will be showing it off to friends... That sense in neutral thing can prolly be done, but not after a bit of custom work inside the VB of your tranny... Which of course I dont think anyone has done... Could be wrong though...

My car will already start without the clutch depressed, so there's no problem with that, I just don't want to accidentally hit the remote start button one day and have my car smash the front-end up, or worse, hurt someone. Maybe there's a way to disable the remote start in my alarm so I can turn it on and off whenever I won't be using it for long periods of time. I'll have to check that out.

I believe Russ posted once about the neutral findings. If I recall correctly the car sends a +12v when the car is in neutral, but the current goes away when the car is in a gear. Maybe you could put some kind of fuse in that would allow you to turn off remote start by removing the fuse. Just an idea.

Ask I30Cefiro, he has a custom remote start for his 5-spd, he should be helpful.

there is a way to do it? Fong, the guy with the mobile home theater in the 4th gen had it in his car before. I'm not sure what module he used but it should be in the archives somewhere. But just to let you know, YES there is a way to do it!!

Hey kingston, those are some sweet headlights you got there! With my remote start the shop that did it put in a safety switch to disable the remote start that I push whenever somebody else drives my car so they don't acidentally use the remote start if they put in gear when they park. I never put my car in gear when I park (I just use the parking brake). I had a hard time finding someone to put in the remote start in my car though because of reliability reasons.

I found two at autotoys.com--->

AUTOCOMMAND REMOTE START (MANUAL)

CRIMESTOPPER CS9729MX4 (PROFESSIONAL - TOP OF LINE)

if the links don't work just go to autotoys.com and look under Alarm/Remote start section.
