my friend got into a fender bender and wanted to settle outside insurance. what kind of paper work should he have to make sure he doesnt get sued or have an insurance claim after the damage he caused is fixed?

 

If the damage is fixed there's not going to be enough evidence to prove it was his car that caused the damage (the only way to tell is to have a person look who is knowledged about car body work, and tell you that it has been replaced/painted in that section, but that's as much info as he can tell you on a fender bender type accident)

 

Just write up something that says he has paid in full for the damages to the vehicle that occurred on the date the accident happen and that the other guy will not sue or file any claim against him for property damages or bodily injuries. Then have the guy sign it and maybe a witness and he should be fine.

EDIT: Also make sure he doesn't pay him in cash. The best way would have him pay by check and they go to the bank and cash it. That way there is record of the payment as well.
