Can the dealership do this?

Can the dealership do this?
Ok I have a 2004 maxima that is out of factory warranty but we have the gold preferred plan for up to 100000 miles. So my left headlight bulb comes out so I take it to the dealership and I get it fixed for 200 something dollars. Now my bulb has come out again(same one) im thinking that this should be free because it happened the first time 2 months ago(should be warrantied right?) but this time now my highbeams dont work. So they say that my highbeams dont work because when my bulb came out it shorted the ground to some 3 letter electronic component( i think it was act or a something) and now they say that I need a whole new headlight assembly and this 3 letter part( a total of $1600). So I ask them is this covered on the gold plan, and they say that it is not because it is not a defect. Shouldn't they fix this for free since it is their fault that my bulb came out again? If my bulb didnt come out again then it wouldn't have shorted the 3 letter part right?
Please let me know what I should do because I dont have the money for this right now.
thanx

Call Nissan consumer affairs and explain the situation. Sounds like the dealership is testing you to see if they can screw you over. An extended warranty is not the same as the standard warranty that came with the car. It covers more than just factory defects.

I think you should take TXT-1 Idea.
The dealer I went to told me that he will fix anything that gose wrong with the car exp light work. he only will work on the engine shocks exels ect. when i found a problem with my car (the exel boots) when they fix it I took it home pop my hood and I found 3 chiken wings sitting on top of my engine.

in this book that I got with the warranty it states that "mechanical breakdown means the inability of a covered part(s) to perform the function(s) for which it was designed, solely to defects in materials or faulty workmanmship" so that means that the assembly is considered to be a defect because the bulb came out on its own right?

along the lines of imnotoriousjoe's post, my car had the Gold, and everything was covered, including wear and tear parts like brake pads, shocks, and clutch. Only 2 things weren't covered: Oil/filter changes and tires.
On top of that, the major service intervals were covered, so 30/60/90k the car was serviced for free. Ain't that amazin?
