I pull up to this light behind this pickup truck when low and behold I see my first Saab 9-3 Viggen pull up next to me. The car looks sweet with a bright blue paint and some nice 17in wheels. Now we're both stuck behind some slow *** cars. When the light changes, the guy he's behind takes off faster, so I get behind the Saab and we open them up. That car is fast as hell, he pulled on me in every gear, I never narrowed the gap. I was shifting flawlessly, I shifted right before redline on 2 and 3rd, We got up to about 115 before we laid off. I pulled up next to him, gave him the thumbs up and we parted ways. I think that it would have been a little more interesting if I had been able to get a start from off the line. My 1-2 shift is pretty swift. I would have still gotten my butt kicked, but maybe not as bad. Afterwards, I stopped by the Saab dealership to get more info. This car is a 4cyl turbocharged 230hp engine running at 20psi boost. Pretty sweet.

Yeah, Viggens are VERY fast.

At 6.1 secs from 0-60, they are probably the fastest fwd car. They also make tons of torque. Around 258lb-ft or something like that. It's no wonder he stayed ahead of you.

Who ran it at 6.1 seconds? R&T did 0-60 in 6.4. That car also has TONS of torque steer, and the magazines complain that it can't safely be driven very fast because the torque steer tries to launch the car sideways instead of straight ahead.

I believe it was MT...

I think those guys have a different driving philosophy from R&T and the others. Usually they get the faster times out of the cars they test, because they don't baby them. They seemed to think that the torque steer made the Viggen fun to drive.
This is, after all, from the same guys who got a bunch of torque monsters(Ex. turbo Bentley) together just so they could do a lot of burnouts!
